Distortion pedal advice.
I've been looking around and asking a few of my friends in local bands. I've heard a few different choices. I want one for my Fender Strat. My sights are on a Ibanez Tube Screamer, which I mainly like because it's my favorit color, green. I wouldn't mind hearing some ideas around the 80-110$.

The Tube Screamer's supposed to have something going for it other than its cool color - BDMonster was quite into it at the noodles show, if I recall correctly. I haven't used one, though.
For distortion, I have a Proco Vintage Rat. http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--PRCVINTRAT I loff it. It's...actually the only distortion pedal I've ever used - seems pretty damn good though, my guitar teacher has one, too. Gives ya that She, Her fuzz.

Mainly distortion. I went to a music shop today and tested out a few pedals, the Tube Screamer really stood out to me. I only know two local bands that use it, they showed me also. I wouldn't mind some opinions.

Most of the time, I use this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=151427
A boss OD-20. At first I thought it was overkill, but i've grown to like. Can basically get any sound I want, I've used it to replace a few of my old ones.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting something with more options or settings. However, I really like... Green. Also, I wouldn't mind getting a little more bang for my buck.

i've had a digitech metal master for a few months and it is suprisingly versatile. i bought it used for $40 but for a new one it's only like 80 bucks.

My Blues Driver is pretty useful, but I hear Tube Screamers are good too. Try out a Boss DS-1... they're only $40, so it's cheap if you like it.
If I were getting a new pedal, though, I'd get a mega distortion.

What exactly does the Blues Driver sound like? A seemingly absurd question coming from a pillows fanatic...but all I can find is "oh, it makes your solid state amp sound like a big tube amp, and gives it a 'creamy blues sound'". Que?

It can sound a lot of different ways. It's hard to describe it anyway, so just try to play one sometime. I think the pillows probably used it on I know You, if that helps any.

Mega Distortion I have, I only use it with a Blues Driver or as an octave pedal. The Blues Driver does work for making a tube sound. I played a gibson 18-watt tube amp a long time ago, it makes my Crate sound like that It doesn't really make it louder.

manabe uses it in hybrid rainbow also.
and if you get a muff, make sure it's the american muff or the slightly cheaper version. If you're using a double muff, youre missin out. It's sound like a danelectro, which by the way, about 90% of them are garbage.

I've got the Line 6 Distortion Modeler that Sawao has and the Proco Vintage Rat is the best one on it. I've heard of some people buying up to 3 Proco Vintage Rats since it was that amazing.
