Post What gear would *you* like to see the pillows use?
I'll start.

Sawao:

Fender Custom Shop '61 Telecaster, Rickenbacker 350V63
Fender '65 Twin Reverb (original), 60's Vox AC30
Fulltone OCD

Pee:

Gibson Custom Shop '59 ES-335, Fender Custom Shop '61 Stratocaster, Fender Custom Shop Thinline Telecaster (replica of his ESP)
Matamp GTL (a more faithful reproduction of the original 70's Orange amps), Marshall 1974X
Fulltone overdrive, Electro-Harmonix phaser, chorus, flanger, Big Muff, etc. All true-bypass.

Kashima:

Rickenbacker 4003 w/ vintage reissue pickups, Pre-CBS Jazz Bass, '60s Gibson EB-3 (Jack Bruce++)
Orange 200-watt Bass head/cab
Roger Mayer Bass Fuzz

Shinichiro:

Fancier TAMA drums. I don't know much about this.

Be sure to tell that to Kashima when he rejoins the pillows.

Whatever they used in Moon is Mine. Manabe has such a smooth sound in that.

Every bass player in the world:

Rickenbacker 4003 w/ vintage reissue pickups[/quote]

Yeah, I'd agree with that.

I'd be fine with Manabe on a Mustang, if he put some nice Strat pickups in the thing. From the few times I've picked up a Mustang, the first thing I noticed about the sound was how horrible the stock pickups sounded. Sonic Blue looks awesome, easily my favorite Fender color... BUT... the color they use on the Mustang, Jagstang, etc. IS NOT SONIC BLUE. The poly color Fender puts on those guitars is more like torquoise. Sonic Blue, as it originally appeared in the sixties, was a very pale, sky blue-ish color.

The Ric 4003 is almost the same as a 4001. And the vintage pickups Ric uses on their basses are very nice. And of course Kashima needs his upright bass.

It looks like Yoshiaki was playing a Strat throughout PML, so it's a good bet that he used one on Moon is Mine. I must say, though, I much prefer the way it sounds played on a Tele...
