And for the record, I think that Irene is awesome. Great bass in that song.
YES. The great bassline really makes the song.

What the shit does Jun think he's doing at the beginning of My Foot? That sounds TERRIBLE.
Edit: From March of the God and on, this CD kicks ass.

^Maybe. But he should really leave the bass distortion to the master:

The ones I liked: my foot, third eye, nonfiction, sayonara universe
the one I didn't like: mighty lovers
The others are in different ok levels.
I liked the bass in my foot it's not so obvious and blends well with the guitars.
I'm not fond of the "like-the-intro-riff-of-the-third-eye" stuff that appear on this album. I can't understand what's so great on gazelle city, I'd have liked it better ending in sayonara universe.
I don't know yet if it'll be better than good dreams (given that PL stays bellow both), but maybe. Many of the reviews were probably influenced by the enthusiasm caused by something new, I can't put it on the same level of TYMT, I think that since that album they haven't delivered any awesome song.

the new album is in the heat of so much controversy. geez.
I listened to the album about 100 times now and damn, it's still good. It totally has some new classics in the pillow's hall of fame. Not saying its better or worse than the old stuff, it's just different; the pillows now and what they've become. and it sounds good .

Ok. I slipped up, saying that Irene was mediocre. Listening to it again, and yes, it is pretty amazing.
Nowhere near as sexy as Winona, though. Hot damn.

I think the general consensus is that it is a good album. Except for Dizzid, but there are always some outliers....

thanks again jedi for hosting
to me, the songs weren't bad at all, i agree with steve that march of the god and on is reall good.
alon with those four, i liked third eye, my foot, and rock'n' roll sinners the most.
the rest on the album i liked, but i would listen to one of the other 7 (think i overplayed nonfiction in september)
and this CD is like ki ni shitenai yo modernized in some way. Sawao played his part of ki ni shitenai yo and was like "i like to play lead" and made a bunch of songs where he does that.

LOTS more lead work from sawao, i noticed that the first time i put it on. some of the playing sounds really rough, almost mis-played though. suprising, considering how tight they usualy are. on albums at least.

That's about my take on it. But I like My Foot and the Third Eye and Nonfiction too. It's just that it's pretty stellar from March of the God and on.

I skipped the last 2 pages of this discussion, but from what I summized you guys don't like RockNRoll Sinners? That song is one of the best besides the songs we've heard on singles.
The fact that it is funny the first few times really helped it.
Is it just me or are they slipping more and more english into their stuff?

gawd, i hope not. They think they're giving us a treat by giving us more ''understandable music'', but the bad grammar just kills. kills.

It's hella lame and all like neo-Little Busters. Its an anthem, a bad one in my opinion.

No he's saying it's as good as the B-sides... which is just silly.
