Emulator: A program that makes "emulates"/mimics the qualities of a videogame system, or some other program.
An example would be: An SNES Emulator is a program that lets you play SNES ROMs (games) on your PC.
They're basically illegal, although many people use them.

Yeah, emulators are like that. It's not like the interbutt police are going to hunt you down for playing a little Super Mario on your PC.
