Okay stop everything! I'm new here and I don't mean to get off to a bad start but their is something that I want to get off my chest. This is in regard to the fact that you put the current Green Day at number two. Now I know that the guitarist Billy Joe is not a technical genius and he is certainly no Jimmy Hendrix. In my opinion though you could have put them a couple notches above poop! I think a band that released an album that cleaned up the music awards could get a little more recognition. Not to get too off subject but that is just my opinion.

Also Sawao is not gay!

I didn't undestand why it referred just to current green day, regarding guitar playing there isn't that much difference between the old and new.

I got really pissed today because i was on itunes and was looking at this so called "guitar legends" playlist that had zz top on it. ZZ TOP.
[/quote]

zz top is pretty good.... i watched them on eric clapton's crossroads music festival and they were pretty good. i think they deserve some respect.

8 for manabe cause hes increadibly awesome, but hes not quite ready for to be listed with the guitar legends. a little longer and he will reach it. :)

i like the fact that their a bit punkish and still sing about current issues instead of suicide and shit like that.

Green Day is okay, they just don't do anything much beyond the catchy pop punk song.

Anyway, I have to go with the general consensus that Manabe is very creative, but his technical skills aren't on the level of virtuosos such as Yngwie and Eddie Van Halen.

The scale is screwed, though. Hendrix is comparable to Manabe in terms of technical skills, so on that scale, Manabe would be around the top. Hendrix is, however, not interesting so much for his technical skills as his originality.

i dont really agree with that because if you listen to Hendrix alot, his guitar playing like morphs throughout most of his music and he never keeps to the same riff its always changing. Also when he solos, it just goes all out, but when you compare Hendrix to Manabe, manabe is an apprentice to him.

Maybe its just me cause i idolize Hendrix. No hard feelings. :)

if you study the careers of both hendrix and manabe you'll see that hendrix just had alot more. Manabe is still good though.

In honesty, I'd say Hendrix had less. I have studied his music, so don't think I'm ignorant.

Chops-wise, they're pretty even, but Manabe has displayed prowess in multiple genres such as jazz, reggae, pop, funk, and alternative rock, whereas Hendrix primarily stuck to his psychedelic blues licks.

Maybe you think Hendrix is better because most of his songs left tons of room for soloing, but Manabe solos only to add to the structure of the song.

You're right Steven. The whole song should be a solo.
