Dead Stock Paradise is rated R all though I have no idea why. It's the only one of their DVDs that is.
The very tiny text under the rating says violence (?), language (?), and some drug content.
Really? You don't say? Go on. Get out of here. No foolin'?

I know that, I have it at home. What I meant was, and let me be extra clear about this, from what I SEE on the DVD ITSELF (I'm not talking about just pulling the disc out of the case and looking at it, but actually watching the content, i.e. the videos plus the little extras that are included in addition to the videos) I don't see anything that would justify an "R" rating. However, and let me make this clear as well, I'm not exactly fluent in Japanese so it could be something that is said that I just don't understand because I don't speak the language.

Yes my sarcasm mode is strong this morning.

i did a bit of googling, and actually, japan's R rating is not the same as ours. the standards most of us know are set by the MPAA (naturally, an american organization). i didn't find anything on any international rating standard.

http://www.eirin.jp/english/02.html

but i don't recall that it says R15 or R18 specifically on the DVD.

The DVD booklet actually says:

R RESTRICTED
"Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian"
For Violence, Language and Some Drug Content.

Looks like the American version of an R rating.

violence= I Think I Can. Language = the bonus clip (when he makes fun of the little boy?.. :| ) drug content = Manabe's little clip when he's high and playing that weird instrument (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v195/kimxxchi/PEE.jpg), and excessive crotch shots = RUSH
*weird instrument = Indian Sitar

What???? What little boy? From what I gathered he's talking about the movie "I Am Sam"

I Think I Can, violent????

It doesn't have to contain all of the said reasons, i.e. violence to get that rating. Sometimes it's just a general rating.

lol. I was joking Mellie.
After the I Am Sam part he started talking about some kid who announced some "big news" that "this band I like, the pillows, broke up!" (or something like that). that's when Sawao says "chotto matte-yo". then I got lost.. (waiting for terra to reply the real translation later)

but that scene when Manabe's high.. that's definetly an R rating. haha.

Yes, I posted that just to inform only you. It was pretty clear that you owned the DVD, but I just thought I'd give you a little reminder so you wouldn't have to look at the DVD again. Not like I was trying to continue discussion of why the DVD would be rated R in the first place. No, not at all...

I'm guessing Manabe plays the sitar. He's playing one in my avatar.
