I was kinda sceptical because I don't usually like remakes, especially because the original was done well enough. Surpirisingly, the movie was excellently done, but I don't think it was great enough to see a second time. I was hoping Burton would make up some new scenes, but most of the movie was copied directly from the original book.

That was the point of the movie, though. Burton hated the old movie, and wanted to do something more faithful to the original book. The only things he really added were the scenes concerning Wonka's childhood and his relationship with his father, and that's only because Burton felt a need to clarify why Wonka is the way he is.

The Oompa Loompas looked like even [i]smaller[/i] Danny Davitos.
Last I heard of that guy was 2 years ago when he saved a transvestite from a beating.
Maybe we'll see Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator now.

premiere in germany today.
i laughed so much. i love this movie. and johnny depp acts as cool as ever.
directly after the movie i was sure to get some chocolate, but it was too late so the stand was already closed. damn.
