I forced it on my friends too but they got hung up on the language. I do have one friend who knew who the pillows were when I first met her, so I burned her a little mix cd and when I offered to burn her the actual albums she turned them down, saying she wasn't that big of a fan. I got two other people into the pillows from my school but we weren't close friends and drifted apart. They weren't "that big" of fans anyway.
Usually, now, if I want to drag someone into pillows fandom, I burn them an all-english-and-instrumentals mix and see if they enjoy. I am thinking of burning happy bivouac for a close friend, though, and see if she likes it.
The main lesson to learn is that the pillows, and lots of really other great bands, aren't meant to be listened by a lot of people. Why? Because a lot of people suck. It turns out that, simply, sucky people listen to sucky music and cool people listen to cool music. If someone really likes good music then they will find the pillows on their own. Through karma? Through destiny?! No, through adult swim.
Us pillows fans should be happy that the pillows aren't an everyday commodity like computer chips or tampons. When you own and love rare and unwanted things then you have found a feeling that is truly special. I say enjoy anonymity to the fullest. That way there's less people to push through to get through the front of the stage
