amp, but he also has a special section where he describes what he wanted

Peavey to make for him.

Hmm... I love satriani - but I certainly am in no admiration of his tone. Maybe it's just my beef with peavey. We'll see, though.
I don't need anything mind blowing or revolutionary - just something that can really get the job done with the cleans and overdrive up into high gain, but not metal-worthy.

I just meant I do not plan to buy a peavey amp. I don't even think any local dealers supply Peavey amps here.

He's probably talking about a solid state amp. Going overkill with watts is totally pointless though. I used to play clubs with a 40 watt solid state just fine, and bigger venues will mic you.

well, I was in the shop today. Steve, the hot rod deluxe you were eying is stellar. 40 watts of tube - it's fucking loud. You won't get a clean sound out of it if you're gigging though - it will start to break up at like 6. It was selling for like 800 bucks canadian. So I inquired about the deville - there's one on the way - I can get it for 1000. Un un un. I loved the deluxe, so we'll just see...

Vox's Valvetronix line intrigues me, but I haven't yet had a chance to play with one. From what I understand it's sort of a modeling amp combined with tube technology.

Yeah, I was just posting that amp because of its ridiculous power. It's 300 or 350, I can't remember. Either way, you won't be able to have kids.
