I personally prefer the old stuff. Especially "Crass". It doesn't get any better than them.

I always thought Tom Morello was a hell of a guitarist. Very adept at distortion effects.

Oh, he's good technically. He practiced 8 or more hours a day while he was at Harvard. Yeah, he dropped out, haha. I think he just chooses to go for that DJ-guitar sound, since that's his signature.

Jomei is right, Morello is actually an amazing guitarist, taught by some of the

best shredders in LA, one such shredder was Michael Angelo.

Tom Morrello always had something against shredding, but in recent articles,

he has been saying it's about time to really let his guitar ability loose.

Shreds baby shreds...

Angelo is the fastest I've heard, but, I agree, his music is shit.

Damn, I'd love to hear Morello cut loose a little. The only times I can think of that he did anything like that were on the first Rage album.

My apologies if I offended anyone. I wasn't totallly aware of his ablitity - I guess I just meant the stuff he played with rage was pretty simple.

Sometimes he hides difficult things under effects. In "Killing in the Name," there is this passage where he is picking these notes several times each, but you can't hear it too clearly because of the effects.

Guitar solos weren't exactly popular in the mid 90's, so obviously he was

hiding his talent.

I don't like Morello's guitar work too much. All that repetitive riffing gets on my nerves. I hate his use of distortion in solos too. I believe he's capable of more than that, but he seems to be quite happy with his style. Whatever.

But that doesn't stop the first RATM album from being among my all-time favorites!
