Deathnote
Monster
20th Century Boys
Door of Destainy (more so hentai, but the story is awesome, 4 realz!)
Those are the best I've read so far since most of them are in Cantonese.

yeah, but most people think of it as geekery, so...
anyway, i plan to get at least ten more this summer in new york (yes!!!).
probably more yotsuba-to!, finish my azumanga collection, get some rurouni kenshin (like one or two), and just so many other choices i'll have to narrow down. i'll be getting them in japanese. just cause it's cool and fun.

here's a list of manga according to genre that would be good ones to start with:
comedy: either azumanga daiou or yotsuba-to! (both by azuma kiyohiko)
action: rurouni kenshin, naruto, yuyu hakusho
fantasy: magic knight rayearth
sci-fi: chobits, angelic layer, akira
romantic comedy: love hina
romantic: kare kano (his and her circumstances)
random good series: fruits basket, .hack//legend of the twilight (sort of fantasy, but sci-fi too), basically anything by CLAMP is good from what i've read of their work so far.
yeah. there's just so much good manga, it's hard to suggest. i'm sure i left out a whole load of great manga and i hope somebody else will add on to this list.

Among the manga I've read whole, Monster was the one I enjoyed the most.
I've been wanting to get Planetes for some time. Anyone has read it?

Resvior Chronicles: TSUBASA by Clamp is very good. (course alot of things by Clamp are good and cool)
Azumanga Daioh, is hillarous manga so is the anime series.
Saiyuki is ok, only got one volume of it. (anime is ok...they cuss way to much)
Love Hina (is pretty cool and funny I really need to get more of that)
D.N.Angel (it's pretty cool I think anyways)
Canidate for Goddess (is cool, sort of like a gundam wing/evangelion mix)
For all you perverts out there you should read a manga called: Battle Vixens. Nice manga for you people. I read it....I liked the story line. Didn't care much for the other things.
Has anyone read Get Backers yet? I read a preview of it in Anime Insider and it looked pretty good. And I would love to have yotsuba-to! it's cute and funny

just the name tells you it's ecchi. the whole thing is just a mild pornographic thing or whatever.
