Re: Song Relationships
It's usually a specific artist that gets him going on a style and there is usually a song that is rather directly influenced by and borrows from that artist (One Life, Ripcord, etc). Seems reasonable lol.

The Jam's Precious and The Killing Field. Also The Wah Wah effects reminded me of the early demo of Naked Shuffle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrLGRx4PTjw The Jam's Little Boy Soldiers' bridge and Blue March's bridge, https://youtu.be/waEB-nV66_Q?t=54s
Go! Go! So not surprising he would borrowed anything else from them. As for the seether one, I definitely hear similarities, both songs reused the intros as the choruses. Thanks for the samples. I would like to point out that Moon is Mine was based from a similar title of a Fairground Attraction song https://youtu.be/6U9NiGYzj1QEdit: Here's another one, The parts at the end of the verse sections in Happy Birthday might've been taken from this part from this Husker Du song https://youtu.be/xMe15tWC6gc?t=1m4s ends at 1:13

Rilo Kiley's It's A Hit horn section solo sounds the same as the chorus melody to Nobody Knows What Blooms. https://youtu.be/0MjcLdQJB_c?t=1m37s

Re: Song Relationships
The bass line (and matching guitar lick in later choruses) in Kimi ga Iru, especially during the guitar solo (around 1:45), is highly reminiscent of the bass line from Taxman by the Beatles. And, come to think of it, parts of Manabe's solo are a bit evocative of the pentatonic guitar style in Taxman.
Man, I've repeatedly listened to both these songs, independently, over the past... 10, 15 years? But I never associated any similarity until just now.
