Even from this short clip, I think it sounds pretty damn good. For whatever reason, the bass reminds me a bit of Purple Moonlight, but I'm definitely getting a 90's vibe from this song. If this gets Sawao in the frame of mind to make more songs in the style of the holy trinity (and I think it has), we could be in for some awesome material like this.

Spiky Seeds sounds really good.

So I came here wondering how no one was talking about the new trailer yet. Then I saw Mafu's post here again. I really don't post anywhere else except the pillows' forums typically. In any case, I wanted to get some discussion going here specifically on the new music.

This new song in the American trailer (about :15 in) is apparently "Star Overhead", eh? Not bad. Is there any other news from "What's pillows" or other sources detailing if any new songs written will be on the new album or only on the soundtrack release?

Feelin' like the new songs won't be on the new album, just based on the fact that "Ride on shooting star" and "I Think I Can" didn't end up on any studio albums after series 1 aired. Honestly just hoping for no double-ups so we get as much new Pillows as possible!

Exciting stuff! FLCL changed my life by introducing me to the pillows, so hearing and seeing this new material is giving me huge nostalgic feels. I can't wait to see the kind of soundtrack they came up with for this!

Yeah, I couldn’t care less about FLCL personally, so I agree that we need a thread in this section for discussing the pillows’ involvement.

I mentioned it in one of my live reports a while back (I think it was the Shimokitazawa show where ArtTheaterGuild was the opening act): Sawao said that they recorded 14 songs for the FLCL soundtrack. He said “it’s not all new songs, though”, so I guess we’ll see what that means.

"Ride on Shooting Star" was in one of the trailers right? Hope that doesn't mean they're just gonna use the same version of that song again; would be fine with a re-recording, though.

I do remember you saying that now. I forgot about the "not all new songs" part. Not really looking forward to any self covers, unless they're from way back in the First Movement. But it's good to see two new songs previewed. Now I just want more!

I'm all excited for both shows and the new tunes. You know that Sawao's going to be throwing down some really high energy tracks for this show.

FLCL Alternative episode 1 featured “white summer and green bicycle, red hair with black guitar (Fool on cool ver.)” and “MY FOOT (Fool on cool ver.)”.

Don't know if they're gonna do any songs that were in the first series.

Also yesssssssss I'm psyched to hear the re-recordings. The old King songs are from more than 10 years ago, so I'm totally game for some updated versions.

Star Overhead definitely sounds great

Nice! I saw the clips for Star Overhead and My Foot. The new version of My Foot, sounds pretty much the same. Maybe a deeper bass groove and Sawao's vocals aren't doubled anymore. Can't find a clip of White Summer though. How'd that sound?
