This evening on his radio show, Sawao announced that a new digital single titled "Ousama ni nare" will be released on December 14th.

It will be released on iTunes (Japan). It's possible to purchase from outside Japan. I'll update this post with instructions closer to release.

Ousama ni nare will be available to download from the iTunes Japan Store starting at midnight on Dec.14th (Japan time, obviously). There is no word about it being available in other regions and I doubt that it will be as other recent releases have still not been made available. This is how you can purchase it from iTunes Japan:

If you purchased the single from the iTunes Store, you probably noticed a little skip in the audio 10 seconds in to the song. This isn't a corrupt download on your part, everyone is having this problem. I've notified them about it, and the song has currently been pulled from iTunes. Hopefully they'll get a perfect version up soon.

I'm not sure if the problem is the same from other distribution sites. If you purchased it from a site other than the iTunes Store, report in and let me know.

Edit: Thomas has confirmed that it also has the skip on the version downloaded from Amazon Japan. It's likely that the master rip contained the error before it was uploaded to all the distribution sites. Hopefully they'll get it fixed soon.

Meanwhile we have a little bit of a tid bit in the history of the pillows, the unexperinced digital single release of 'Ousama Ni Nare {Skip Ver.}.
Not sure how it will work for people who has purchased the song in iTunes already.
Perhaps a refund and then re-purchase? - This seems like too much effort?
Maybe the new master ver. is directly available in their iCloud music library 'Songs of Innocence by U2' style.
Especially since the purchase is linked directly to the song ID in the iTunes / Apple Music Japan library.

This is a bigger technical issue for apple at least than I realized.

Hopefully that true master comes soon!

Arrrgh kicking myself. I've tried twice to get the single off Amazon.co.jp and wasted about $7AUD in the process. Tried first time around with my usual account which was already linked to an Australian credit card so the purchase was blocked on that basis (I guess). Then made an entirely new account linked only to a Japanese address and a gift card bought with my usual account, and the purchase still couldn't go through.

I helped Thomas with getting it off Amazon Japan. At first, it kept blocking the purchase even though he had registered a gift card, but I just changed his "one-click", default shipping address to a Japanese address and clicked "Convenience store / ATM / Internet banking / e-Money payment" for the payment method. Not sure if the latter had anything to do with it, but purchasing the song worked fine after I made those changes.

Tried those settings and still didn't work for me...must be a weird, specific problem with my computer or my account.

Japan probably hates Australia a little more than they do America, lol.

I think I'm just going to wait to buy the physical album. But after watching the music video, I can definitely feel that Fun Fun Fun OK vibe in the prechorus. It's pretty obvious lol! Doesn't seem too bad overall, but nothing out of this world.
