In case you haven't heard yet or you live under a rock. Squarenix is remaking the beloved Final Fantasy VII for the PS4 and will be directed by Tetsuya Nomura who also developed the Kingdom Hearts franchise as well as the character design for Final Fantasy V.

Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game of all time and I am so fucking juiced that it will finally be remade. What do you guys think?

It looks beautiful. I never finished the original because my PS1 was a POS and wouldn't play the second disc. I'm generally a fan of older games but the recent FFs are beautiful. I'm hoping they remake V next.

You can buy FFVII through Steam now for like six bucks. You should give it a go again.

But remake V though? Really? To me V's story always felt really barebones--I'd probably hate the game if it weren't for its awesome job and battle system. If V was one you really liked, I'd recommend FFIII, which was kinda the precursor to V's job system. I haven't played the 3D remake, but the original was fantastic.



If they were to remake another FF, I'd want them to remake FFVI, if not for anything else than an Advent Children-esque version of Dancing Mad. I feel like if they just deepened and darkened the plot a bit (especially after the breaking of the world,) it would be a really interesting game with all the Magitek steampunk shit going on.

I've never played II III or VI. I was actually just thinking about playing III. I can't decide whether to play the iOS version or the NES fan translation. I'm leaning toward NES just because I love NES.

As far as NES games go, it's polished as fuck, but that should be expected for a game developed that late in the NES' life cycle. The only real warning I have is save before you enter the final dungeon, otherwise you could be stuck in there with no way to rejuvenate your party.

Plus I feel like it'd be kinda unfair to FF3 to compare it to games which have come out so much later, which would be inevitable due to its 3D nature. Seeing it in its original form made me appreciaye it a whole lot more. Hands down the best FF up until FFVI in my book. (I actually like it more than VI, but I know that's arguable to many.)

Rumors are you'll be able to do that with FFXV DLC, so maybe the same could be the case for Final Fantasy VII

Regardless I have never been so juiced over a game release since I was a kid waiting for KH2
