 tabbing bass
how the heck do you guys tab bass for music? it's so far in the back, behind other instruments, that I can hardly hear it
is there some kinda special program or something to just isolate the bass???

Well, you can try boosting the lower frequencies on the equilizer.

listen to music where the bass is more prominant<-spelling?
i.e. Primus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, any funk.

yes, equalizer works... patterns in the song work (like.. the bass int eh intro might be the same in the verse etcetc) it also helps to know guitar because the root notes of the chords will usually lead you in the right direction.

No offense or anything, but you should probably work on your ear enough so that you can pick out the bass well before you start tabbing anyway.

training your ear takes years.... there are other ways to figure out a bassline.
do you just quiz yourself by trying to name random tones or something, tuffghost? =P

I would recommend getting a better set of headphones or speakers. If you've got a good set-up and it's a good quality recording, the bass should be a lot clearer.

naw, my ears are trained and I know the guitar......but most of the songs I'm tabbing, the bass doesn't follow along with the guitar.
And yea.......I think I just need better speakers
