They're getting pretty damn old, man. Sato in particular is looking worn right out.

I caught Surfer Blood at my college back when their first album was still new, they were great live. I'm sure they've only gotten better, the recent album was great.

I liked Pythons a lot, even though it was pretty different...they put on a great show. I liked that they dropped the heavy reverb on the vocals, I always preferred their live cuts.

My fiancee's mom got tickets to see DREAMS COME TRUE, but she is unable to attend so she gave the tickets to us. They're not really my thing and they are a bit too much on the corny side for me. I don't want to turn down free tickets, though. It might be fun. We'll go a week from Sunday at Marine Messe in Fukuoka.

Tame Impala tonight, quite possibly the greatest show I've ever been to. The feels, man...the light show was on point, great jams and extended/modified renditions of tracks. Awesome.

Going to see Dr. Dog for the 3rd time next month. They are so great live.
I am wondering if I should go see the Vaselines, too, in 2 weeks. I think it would be kind of fun, but I don't know if I should spend the money.
Edit: Just got back from the Vaselines show. It was so great! Also, their supporting band, Amanda X was really cool. Anyone ever heard of them?

Finally getting a chance to see Tycho live! He'll be in Seattle next month, and this time I bought tickets well in advance. SO EXCITED.

Re: The Last Show you Went to/Next Show you will Go to
For mothers day I got my mom tickets to see Built to Spill. We have a tradition of going to shows together, but last year on Valentine's Day she fell down some stairs and suffered a traumatic brain injury, and she hasn't been quite the same since (two days after we saw Neutral Milk Hotel together). This will be the first show since then, and I hope it goes well. Actually, though I love the band, I think Built to Spill's live shows can be a little hit or miss--sometimes the band seems bored, sometimes the crowds are bad. Still, my mom and I have seen them so many times together already, that we feel like we can't break our run. I'm looking forward to it.

That sounds fun, I wish my parents had been the types to share music and concert experiences with me...they never went. I don't actually know if my dad's ever been to a concert, haha. Got to see Matt Pond PA and the Box Tiger recently, looking forward to seeing Brand New and several other great bands this September at Summer's End festival. Speaking of Built to Spill, though, they were at Boston Calling in the spring the other year, and I feel you on the energy level of their show being a bit weird sometimes. The set was good, but a lot of it was very un-exciting for such a good band. Then again, they've all been around for a long time AND their music is pretty laid back to start with, so maybe I just wasn't jiving with the chill in my excitement for some of the more upbeat/aggressive acts I was there to see, lol.

That's so nice. I hope you guys have a blast, and hope she is doing well.
I've been to a handful of concerts with my parents...with my dad moreso. He even took me into the city to see the pillows for the first time. My whole family (mom dad and little bro) caught them the second time, that was both surprising, amazing, and very nice. A great experience for sure, I was very proud and thankful to have them there.

That's coming up--awesome ). Now that you mention your experience (really cool, by the way), I realized that I have also seen the pillows with both my mom and dad now--8 years apart.

Re: The Last Show you Went to/Next Show you will Go to
@yaro, I hope you enjoyed the concert with your mom, that's cool that you can share that. Been meaning to catch up on this... So a few months ago, my husband and I went to a house concert with this band, Grace and Tony - pretty freakin' awesome way to experience a concert. Literally, we're in a house, and the band is right in front of you. We have some friends who are super big music fans who set it up. Not my usual type of music, they could be described as death country or punk+bluegrass, but they were a lot of fun. Their songs are strangely eclectic, they have songs about Salem's Lot, superheroes and Frankenstein's monster, plus some slightly more traditional subjects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDoL2G-Q7HMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATSdTqV5GHQAnd... last month I finally got to see the Pixies AND the Strokes!! And some other kinda annoying bands that I didn't care for but it was also hot out so maybe I would have liked them better if I hadn't been hot/thirsty at that point. I wasn't sure how much I would like the Pixies, because I only know a few songs, but they seriously rocked it. And the Strokes rocked it too. Although Julian isn't very exciting to watch on stage, but that's all good, the music was good. Obligatory bad concert pic:

Re: The Last Show you Went to/Next Show you will Go to
Julian was looking distinctly unhealthy at Governor's Ball last year, and barely moved around the stage. Nailed the vocals like nobody could believe, though, so whatever works, I guess? Hopefully he doesn't go too hard on his body with all that rock star partying lol. Going to see a friend or two play shows this week, and looking forward to seeing toe again next month. Mew also just announced another US tour at last, going to pick up tickets for that as soon as they go on sale today.
