Okay, maybe I am a bit off-track on this one, but this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCuHHHNi-l8
kinda resembles the style on WI. (Paper Moon comes in mind). I think there is a fair chance that 'Felt', besides the Smiths, also influenced the pillows during their first years.
I definitely hear the similarity-- at least, right at the beginning. It's possible that the pillows were into Felt, but I've never heard the band mention them as an influence. Felt was fairly popular in the UK back then, though.
btw since I checked out 'Stained-Glass Windows in the Sky' , I got interested. I Have been listening to their stuff here and there. 'Felt' sounds like a promising band. I really dig their sound so far (understatement). How much are you into the band LH?
I actually just learned about them about a month ago. I was lurking on some music blog and stumbled upon them. I heard Stained-Glass Windows and really liked it, so I read up on the band a bit. Felt is cool, but I wouldn't necessarily say I'm a huge fan. I'm still learning about their music and trying to digest a lot of it. I got ahold of a few of their albums and I've really enjoyed certain songs. Others have left less of an impression, though. Some of the standouts for me so far have been:

"Ballad of the Band"
"All the People I Like Are Those Who Are Dead"

Glad you like em, mate. If you happen upon any more great songs in their catalog, be sure to post em!

I just stumbled upon this thread the other day when I was looking for something in my posts.
I also became more interested in the pillows Kool Spice and Living Field sound recently.
So 1 + 1 = 2.

Here is another cool track of Unchain. Should have checked some more of their music back in the days.
Anyway fresh track..check it out. The bass is on Kashima level, they even have the nice congas and stuff, the clean sounding lead guitar, heck the lead singer even looks a bit like Sawao in his Kool Spice days with his suit and haircut. (Oh yeah, don't mind the buzz in the first 3-4 seconds).

This one is really upbeat...and has some Manabesque lead in it. Yummy.
(The mini album where you can find the song on: http://jpddl.com/music/191891--album-un ... 8-08-.html It's fantastic! So much energy and good vibes)
