Was your cousin Ramos? Maybe it's your post I was remembering.

Anyways, super awesome. It funny, the pillows never come down here to Florida. But there's a pretty high number of active or recently active members who live down here.

Yeah, Sclone had a girlfriend or someone he knew that was acquainted with you too.
And yep that's him. We had a family reunion at my place recently this past summer so I was able to see him.
Ramos family of about 110 people.
It's sort of like a clan. I couldn't enter the cover contest because of it - not enough time for me. Next time I suppose.

Yeah! it's annoying that they don't tour anywhere even relatively close from here.
But I had no idea there was other people besides us so that's cool.

Hey Octave, it's been a while. How are you doing?
But yeah Skeleton Liar is a cool track. Fool on the Planet on the other hand, well, tbh does not that much for me :X (for the record, Skeleton Liar, FotP and Our Halley's Comet got the most 'votes' up to now)
Anyway, I'm curious about your list of 10 Octave :)

Fool on the planet... :groovin: I probably feel the way you do about Black Sheep though. I skip it, along with rodeo star mate and tokyo bambi when they come up. XD

Honestly, been better but I'm hanging in there. Been preoccupied with life throwing me curveballs lately.
Long dramatic story... - like thread worthy for living field dramatic lol. But other than that I'm alright. Thanks for asking.
Anyway, I'm curious about your list of 10 Octave :)
Ok, so this was hard... I just basically picked whatever stuck out to me the most while looking at their discography.
But these are all songs that I usually like to fall back to again at any moment too.

Like a Lovesong (Back to Back)
Trip Dancer
Ame Ni Utaeba (If You Sing in the Rain)
Rush
Patricia
Swanky Street
Monochrome Lovers
Daydream Wonder
Our Halley's Comet
Trial

Something I noticed about their songs...in general... is that they can all be classified individually into having a prominent focus in: Love, Rock, Dance, Poetry, and the Experimental.
My bet is that the best songs for me are the ones that effectively pull off having a good mixture of all those things combined. Not saying my list is representative of that but just a thought that I had.

BY THOSE POWERS COMBINED. THEY ARE... THE PILLOWS! :shred:
:D

Lol I'll add some notes for some of the songs later.

Anymore people who'd like to share their favorite songs?
Up to now we have a top 6 of songs, with many songs sharing the same place. Intermediate score: we have one runner up...the second place is shared by three songs. Place three is shared by six songs.
So in total 10 songs are the most popular. These are the songs:

Bokura no Hare suisee
Fool On The Planet
Skeleton Liar
Trip Dancer
Another Morning
Daydream Wonder
Funny Bunny
One Life
Swanky Street
White Summer And Green Bicycle, Red Hair With Black Guitar

(So far 13 people have submitted a list. The number one song as for now is in 6 of it, so almost half of the people included it)
(I am anticipating anyway the lists of Terra, Mare and Tidus, although I know of Tidus he cannot limit himself to 10 songs :p)

I would like to replace my submission of Skeleton Liar with Hybrid Rainbow. Although I love SL and the crunch that it comes with through Sawao's vocals, Hybrid Rainbow just has such a strong hold on me that I can never let it go :shred: :shred: :shred:

Hybrid Rainbow is another song that is so overplayed that it has almost completely lost its magic to me. I never, ever listen to it. Ever.

Sucks cuz it literally used to be one of my favorites... back in like middle school.

I avoid listening to it and after a few months I do listen to it and its awesome :shred:
But I get what you're saying dude, and I agree it can lose its magic but I'm sure it'll be amazing when we see them in Japan
:shred: :shred: :shred: :shred:

I can relate to this. It was never really one of my "favorites" per se, but man, the power of listening to DAT CHORUS for the first time.

In the early days, Kim Deal was probably my favorite song (amazing song, don't get me wrong,) but looking back throughout the years, I just never felt the urge to play it over and over like I did with One Life or some other songs.

I was afraid of losing my love for One Life too, but I'd say it still tops my list even today. It doesn't give the same punch it used to, but it still holds a special place in my heart as an anthem to that longing, innocent feeling, of waiting to be swept away from where I was in high school. For me, that feeling is contained perfectly in the guitars of the chorus. Throw in one of Manabe's most iconic solos, the intense lyrics...how could I not have fallen in love with it? Even to this day, I rarely ever skip over One Life. For me, it is the song that epitomizes the pillows and will likely forever remain my favorite song.

That being said, I'm surprised at the variation in the lists we've seen so far. I knew I was the resident poster boy for being a fan of Our Halley's Comet (thanks, Tidus) but seeing it beat out so many other top contenders in my book (like Hybrid Rainbow, and One Life) is pretty surprising. I'm also pretty surprised that I seem to be the one the most into the Holy Trinity style of the pillows songwriting. I feel a little guilty about it, looking back, as I really enjoy a lot of their other songs, but in terms of what I've found I listen to the most often, or what I think are more objectively "better" songs, it's hard to top Please Mr. Lostman + Holy Trinity.

Of all the songs on my list, Borderline Case and Girls Don't Cry were my "fuck you, I really love these" songs. Y'all should give em another listen and show them more love.

tl;dr:
Gee, that guy who replied first sure got things right. Why can't you all be more like him?

The Holy Trinity is the reason why most of us got into the pillows in the first place, and there is nothing that can ever replace the profound influence those works have had on our lives. It's easy to understate their significance, especially since most of those songs have become more than overplayed for most of us, but we shouldn't forget there's a reason for that. Also, when we make these lists, somewhere in the back of our minds we're making a subconscious effort to express our individuality as well, and you just can't do that with songs that EVERYBODY loves. So, as a tiebreaker, a song that has a special meaning to you might take precedence over a song you like just as much, or even a little better.

When I think about what I want to listen to tonight, I may have lost interest in "Rhydon Shooting Star," but in the soundtrack of my life, few songs would make the grade so absolutely.

There's some truth to what you say Sheer.

But don't underestimate the power of the earlier discography. True, the holy trinity is what got us into the pillows. But as SOON as I learned about their 1992-1996 period, it outclassed the FLCL period within a year. To this day, 1993-1998 is my favorite. The holy trinity is indeed great, but you can objectively break it down, and I think enjoying stuff from before (and some cases after) more than that "holy" period goes beyond wanting to be an outlier in the "herd".

I honestly can't get my fucking list below 20 songs right now after three or four tries of making one. Just give ten votes to Strange Chameleon, please.

Oh man, this is making me go through a lot of amazing songs I haven't listened to in a while.

And this has gotten a lot harder than it used to be, since they have more songs now. :x Whatever. I'll just go with it. Top 20 something. Maybe I'll narrow it down later. I am fond of Skeleton Liar, but it's not quite top tier for me.

Hybrid Rainbow (played it at my wedding)
One life
Funny bunny (also played it at my wedding, yeeeeah)
Last Dinosaur
Sono mirai wa ima
The third eye
1989
ENERUGIA
Moon Marguerite
Paper Triangle
ROBOTMAN
Bokura no HAREE suisei
MONSTER C.C.
Shiroi natsu
Beautiful morning with you
Kimi to boku to o-tsuki-sama
Scarecrow
Primer Beat
I think I can (first music video I saw where I was like OMG the CRAZY I LOVE IT)
Ride on shooting star
Strange chameleon

I'm glad my ten votes for Strange Chameleon make up for it being so low on your list. :hmph:
