This one is pretty cool: Number Girl's 'kuromegachina shoujo' (黒目がちな少女) track 11 of Num-Heavymetalic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2k9pHc9hqIand the pillows' 'my girl (fiction version): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sbK9hRyRFQ

Re: The PIllows Shout Outs!
Did anyone ever note the 'As Tears Go By' (Rolling Stones) quote on the cover of Smile? I think it's obvious, but I didn't see it mentioned!

Re: The PIllows Shout Outs!
I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but I just realized that the chord progression in Come Down is used the same way in Walking on The Spiral. It uses the R-b7-6-b6 progression. In the key of C that would be C-Bb-A-Ab. This chord progression has been used by other bands not just by the pillows such as Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4, The Jam's Running On The Spot, and Green Day's Brain Stew. I also noticed that the outro to Kanojo wa kyou sounds vastly similar to Fun Boy Three's Well Fancy That's intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfSqTO5pV0o

Re: The PIllows Shout Outs!
I didn't realize until now that the vocal arrangements for Moon is Mine is similar to how "I'm Wishing" by Walt Disney's 1937 film Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs is. The echo effects following after the stated words is what caught my ear. Here are some quoted words from the lyrics that have the echo effect (in parenthesis) followed after them, from Moon is mine, "Goodbye (Goodbye)" "Sunshine (Sunshine)" "Hello (Hello)" "Moonlight (Moonlight)". And from Snow White, "I'm Wishing (I'm Wishing)" "To find me (To find me)" "I'm hoping (I'm hoping)" "The nice things (The nice things)" "He'll say (He'll say)".

Re: The PIllows Shout Outs!
Are they also melodically similar? I would imagine that Sawao would have taken the idea from some sort of pop music from the 70s or whatnot instead of a Disney film, but that would be sick as hell if he stumbled across that and wanted to use it. XD

Re: The PIllows Shout Outs!
Melodically similar? I don't think they are because Moon is mine and I'm Wishing do sound nothing alike! lol But they do share similar vocal model approaches.

Re: The PIllows Shout Outs!
The lead guitar intro in Dear, My "First" Step burrows heavily from Happy Xmas (War Is Over) verse melody 0:11 - 0:21 https://youtu.be/z8Vfp48laS8?t=11s
The outro to Swinger's Night Club seems to be a shout out to Johnny Rivers' Secret Agent Man https://youtu.be/6iaR3WO71j4

Hm. Secret Agent Man goes up, while Swinger's goes down. It's similar, but I'd also just call it a common kinda Latin-y line cliche (especially in Swinger's, which has that gentle Latin feel).

I heard this song recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtS0rwQK_pI (Last Goodbye by Jeff Buckley) and it reminded me of Stalker. It's not hard to hear why

I was listening to Pink Floyd's Shine on you crazy diamond and on part 2 of the song (3:54) the riff reminded me of the main riff to Yellow Beans! https://youtu.be/8UXircX3VdM
Moon is mine: Verse: Oasis - Whatever (verse) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tuPBrSl9Nw
I've been thinking these were similar. Turns out you noticed it years ago. edit: Happened to find another one just now. The Predators - Gun Lock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-dihluOmuA (couldn't find the actual CD version) Tommy James & The Shondells - Hanky Panky https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSHVWzRh30kDo you think that might have been an influence? They sound pretty similar.
