OK, so it kind of sucks that they're re-recording it like they did Liberty. It would've been really nice if they had put out a single with the original versions of Liberty AND Future. Either way, I'm just glad that we're getting to hear this in some form finally. And you know we'll be getting a live version of it eventually since they'll be playing it at least one of those three 2nd Movement shows. Really, REALLY hoping for a DVD with the 1st and 2nd Movement shows right now.

They already confirmed that they were doing a live DVD for the concerts, so you can rest your worries there.

But yeah, as awesome as Turn Back Liberty is, it has absolutely nothing on the original. It's a shame that we'll never get to hear it in its original glory. Hopefully the arrangement is really good for this current version.

Maybe they'll release something super awesome like a "lost tracks" bonus CD with the 25th anniversary DVD or something. They seem to be going all out, so who knows.

I'm not sure any of my contacts will be attending the shows in which the Future CD will be sold. Guess I'll get it from the Buster shop if all else fails.

Although I DO prefer the Turn Back version of Liberty than the demo version...that pillows era was closer to the edge of when things started to go downhill.

Really? The lead guitar in demo Liberty is so awesome. I love the TB version, but dat guitar.

I don't mind that it's a new recording of this song, but I really do wish they'd have included the original version as a B-side or something like that.

Do we actually know that The Pillows ever recorded a full version of Liberty back in the 90s?

I guess we don't technically "know", but it doesn't make sense that they wouldn't have. I find it hard to believe that it started off as some tiny song and that they added to it for Turn Back. I bet there's more, but it's never seen the light of day, as far as I know. As it stands though, it's a mere jingle.

Hopin' that the original of this gets released somehow. I was really hoping they'd make it a B-side or something as well. That's be a pretty cool idea, actually. "Here's the re-recorded version of this ancient song for our 25th anniversary, and here's the original version, too, so you can see how we've grown as artists!"

I believe there are full versions of both Liberty and FUTURE. Sawao was trying to get permission to release those from his record label King Records, but King Records said "no" to the releases.

As for how come the old releases haven't been released yet. I'm going to assumed that the releases still belong to King Records. Another reason could be that since they are recorded on tape, they would need additional hardware to mix them as I believe that they haven't been mixed yet. Which would cost money to do since they are working in the box these days.

Really? I don't remember hearing about this. Wouldn't be surprised if it were a record label kerfluffle, but this would be the first I'd personally heard of it. You got a source for that little nugget of yours, Carnval, or is it just a pet theory?
