Hello my fellow Busters,

Over the past month I took part in the creation of a fan "documentary" celebrating a metal band I listen to. Via a Facebook group, we invited fans to submit webcam (or any other device recordings) footage that contained answers to certain generic questions (what's your favorite song, how'd you come to discover the band, any other poignant anecdotes). We created a narrative with the footage and we're going to present it to the band, who is very active on social media.

This project got me thinking that we could craft something similar for our favorite little band from Japan and present it on the pillows' social profiles next year for the 25th anniversary. Is there any preliminary interest in tackling a fan "documentary" out there? Could be neat if we garner a hefty amount of international entries to illustrate the scope of the band's reach over 25 years.

That's a really cool idea. It's unfortunate that it's around the time the major fervor over the pillows has died down (outside of Japan), but 25 years is a great milestone. The pillows have been a huge band for all of us.

Not to be a fuckface, and feel free to just tell me to shut up, but perhaps we should just do it with the members of this board to avoid stuff like that? It'd not only serve that purpose, but also show them the views of those who don't just love the FLCL stuff.

I kind of agree with MyFoot on privatizing the documentary to just prominent IM members. I feel like we would have a much higher quality response than the average "Oh shit! The pillows are fucking awesome!!! I love hybrid rainbow! best song in the world man! Japan rulez!"

I still feel we need to meet in the geographic center of the continental United States and have a big pillows fan meet. Sooo much jamming and nerding out.

What does it lack? If anything, it's too long, but that was a consequence of my associates wanting a longer piece.

Also, I'm glad there is interest. I'd really like to put something together in this fashion.

Perhaps we can start brainstorming on questions?

Lastly, I still feel compelled to advertise it on the pillows FB page. I hear you guys on the practicality of keeping it private to us, and granted we'll drive the content with our high quality submissions, but I want to make this a worldwide thing. International submissions will show off the scope of the fanbase (similar to what we did with this MaSu vid).

In the end, it's up to us (me) to edit in the best stuff. There will inevitably be some generic fan love, but I have the power to include the most poignant content - which will no doubt be generated from people like us.

I'd say favorite song/album would be good.
Maybe sharing stories from live shows that y'all have attended?
Talking about how our lives have changed since discovering the pillows' might make for interesting segments as well.

If there aren't at least a few bat-shit crazy entries, I'll be super disappointed.
