Get Lucky is a pretty amazing song.

As far as their hits go though, if you don't like/move to Around the World you're pretty dead inside.

I do feel dead inside when it comes to Daft Punk. Cuz almost everyone I know who's into music loves them, or at least some of their shite, and I always feel a stint of frustration whenever I hear them, because it always ends with me being the odd man out. I don't know how it happened, haha.

I never really listened to Daft Punk at length, but I definitely had more respect for them before they became Maroon 5 2.

Ok, I can understand not liking their more recent stuff, but that's a pretty ludicrous statement and a low blow. What little I've heard of the new album seems commercial indeed, but that doesn't mean it's bad.

Update desu.

Although not as instantly accessible as Discovery, Random Access Memories kicks ass. Daft Punk has never disappointed.

Also dl'ed BtB's Kocorono. I like it, but I think it'll take a few listens for it to fully sink in. I've had Jack Nicolson on repeat for a while now, though.

Oh, and if you're into electronic/chillout stuff at all, you absolutely have to check out Bonobo's new album (and his whole discography, for that matter). It's gorgeous.
My friend mentioned this to me before I really thought about it, but previous albums have a lot of Daft Punk making cool electronic/rock songs from disco samples, and this album is them making an original disco album with electronic/rock influences. Yes, many of the songs are super catchy/dancey, but I don't see this as a bad thing at all.
I agree with Mare here completely. I may be biased sometimes when it comes to my favorite musical artists but their new album was rock solid. My favorite track is "Touch" and "Give life back to music." They did an incredible job working with all the collaborators and the final product is nothing like anything out today. Which for me is all that I'm asking for, something that is tangible and unique to the ears. :groovin:

In regards to btb, if Jack Nicolson is your dig, I would recommend checking out the newer releases, as the sound and style for those are very different from the early work.

Gotta second Bonobo, as well. I've also recently checked out an artist called Baths and one called TokiMonsta, both are pretty solid. Bonobo is really gorgeous work, though.

Thirding. I saw Bonobo live in Seattle and it was one of the best electronic shows I've ever been to. My friends who introduced me to Bonobo also really like TokiMonsta; definitely solid.

On the electronica theme, I've been listening to a ton of Starfucker recently. The first half of their most recent album Miracle Mile is stunningly good.

Oh, yeah, Starfucker. I was trying to remember their name recently, now I can go check them out again. Thanks.

I've been listening to Bonobo's album Black Sands* for a good while now. Apparently the newest album is okay, but not totally mindblowing? Though I'm sure for Bonobo "average" is still beautiful and highly pleasing.

*spoilers, Black Sands is how I bed all the ladies. That and Days to Come.

I'll admit, I definitely only said that for the sake of saying something snarky on the Internet :?

The North Borders may not be my favorite Bonobo album, but it's pretty airtight. If you like his other stuff, this one will be an instant favorite, pretty much. Black Sands and Days to Come are amazing, and Animal Magic and Dial M for Monkey are also up there. This one falls somewhere in between for me.

Listened to some White Stripes today. It reminded me of just how shitty practically everything Jack White has done outside of The White Stripes is.

While it's an enjoyable album, I think there's an over reliance on samples and loops which makes the album more artificial than Black Sands (which is arguably his best work).

If you enjoy Black Sands, I think you'd also like Dial 'M' For Monkey. Days to Come and Animal Magic are both good in their own rights.

You should check out Emancipator if you like Bonobo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWfzLpfslzI

Fuck yeah Starfucker. Reptilian is a god damn great album through and through! Their more recent stuff is pretty great too, but not as good in my opinion...
