Super Metroid. I recently an Xbox 360 controller for PC so I have a proper game controller for emulating stuff. Next up is Dragon Quest III, Earthbound, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger (in some sort of order.) Man I love SNES games.

For your sake, I hope Metroid is the only platforming type of game you intend to run through, the 360 controller is goddamn horrible for such games, as I mentioned previously.

360 controller > ps3 controller.

I HATE the d-pad on the ps3. My thumbs start to hurt after a while. Not only that but the buttons are just not as responsive.

I LOVE the ps3 console. I like the system layout, the store, everything.
Controlller? Not so much.

360 pad is the best!
D-pad is sexy and smooth!

Post Re: What are you playing?
Doing pretty good so far in Dark Souls. Bought both variety of Soul Arrow very early on, which I've found makes for a clever way to kill all of the fearsome knight monsters I've encountered with the heavy version. But even before that I bought a simple cheap club to crack open the standard shield soliders in the Burg, finishing with dagger in left hand action. Upped my faith a couple points so I could use Astora's Straight Sword, bought Force, Heal, and a nice supply of throwing daggers and firebombs, killed Taurus Demon with little effort with Heavy Soul Arrow and firebombs. Got Drake sword, did the naked backstab dance with Havel, ran through darkroot garden and killed that lightning throwing guy at the bottom of Undead Parish (Yup, Heavy Soul Arrow once again) and lit the bonfire, and I dropped the elevator that shortcuts back to Firelink Shrine. And I can parry with the buckler to nuke enemies when I need it.

Basically the complete opposite of my brother. I swear I did weeks of his play in two days. Yes, I had some general tips going in but I got there so much faster by actually using everything the game offers you. I knew he was struggling because he was limiting himself to sword/shield/bow only. He was fighting fucking Great Grey Wolf Sif when he finally listened to me, "ok I'll try this pyromancery thing." And the cleric moved out of the Firelink Shrine on his save, I'm wondering when he'll get another opportunity to even buy miracles to begin with.

Moral of the story: There are many solutions that only require you to seek them out.

I love hearing how other people play Demon's/Dark Souls. I prefer the brute strength and shield route myself: upgrade my sword and shield to something nasty then out-maneuver my opponents any way I can. Magic kind of turns me off, if only because it makes the game less fun for me. Being right there in the action rather than melting my opponents with fire from meters away just gives me a raging boner.

Damn I haven't played dark souls in a while... or any other console game for that matter. My brother got Borderlands 2 and Halo 4, and I've barely touched them.

I've been playing a lot of Kerbal Space Program over the past couple of months. I feel like a mother-fuckin' astronaut, playing out those childhood dreams :shred:

Yeah, well the game certainly doesn't give you one all-purpose way to steamroll over everything. I'm burning things weak against fire, I'm force-pushing shield nancies over, aural decoy is hilarious and turns enemies around so you can backstab them, iron flesh if a mob wants my dick, heavy soul arrow if a boss presents an opportunity and good ol' blocking and dodging and two-handing the Gaping Dragon. I was right up in Capra Demon's face for most of the fight and I thumped him with Astora's Straight Sword. I'm Red Maging this shit. 8) Honestly, I'm not dying that much. So far, at least.

Those Balder Knights dropped their armor and gauntlets, and they were pretty rad so I decided to reinforce them. I'm up to +5 and it's really not bad, I have some room to play with if the monsters get frisky. Fucking Petrus... I had Lautrec around so Petrus spilled the beans about kicking Reah into a hole in the catacombs. I bought all his miracles, I might as well kill the prick, right? I hope she's not dead but I don't know if I should be going into the catacombs at this point. Everyone is either a dopey, smiley Brit or a totally sinister MUAUAHAHAHA THIS IS MY SCHEMING LAUGH!

My brother is at Ornstein and Smough and having some trouble, hopefully he will be victorious today. ^_^

I'm playing Telltale's "The Walking Dead" series. It's easily one of the more unique gaming experiences I've ever had, and I'm blown away.

Sleeping Dogs! This might be my game of the year. I'm lucky enough to have an AMD made card, so I can run it pretty well on a two year old laptop. It looks sooooo good. Developers are doing flat out stupid stuff with lighting nowadays. Driving through Hong Kong at night with all the neon lights shining while it's raining looks absolutely insane. I'm utterly blown away with how this game looks.

I picked up Cave Story+ from a Humble Indie Bundle a while back, and it's pretty much the same thing, but with a different translation, an option to play with updated graphics/music, and a few extra game modes (including a brand new hidden level).

Although I still haven't beaten the original Cave Story on Hard Mode yet (i.e. where you save Curly).

I didn't know there was a Cave Story+ for Steam. I picked it up today. One nice thing about it is that it has USB controller support so I've been able to play it on my joypad. I set it to hard mode (cuz I'm a boss.) Be forewarned: There are no health packs to pick up, nor do I think there are missile packs. It makes the game somewhat more straightforward since you don't have to go out of your way to get a lot of stuff; however, most monsters will be able to one-shot you...so it's definitely more challenging. I'm ALMOST tempted to try to beat Hell with only 3 health, but that seems fucking ridiculous and I don't think there's an achievement for it.

I'm at the Sand Desert area, waiting to pick up the last puppy and give him back to Jenka (probably my least favorite part of the game.) I think I'm going to beat the game on Hard Mode before I start a new save (you get 3) and check out the new dungeon they added.

Oh yeah, right now you can set the game to use holiday art--pretty much every sprite is Christmas-tized. E.g. Curly has a Kris Kringle hat (lol @ the Mimiga named Santa,) Quote is kind of like a reindeer thing, Balrog has a wrapping paper ribbon, etc. The area where you pick up the puppy in the house was also lit up a bit with Christmas lights, so it wasn't a bitch to navigate.

I really enjoyed the game, so I wanted to support the developer, although I'm not sure how much money the dude will get from my purchase. Anyway, I thought $5 was a fair price for such a great game.

Oh yeah, I forgot that it did that. Pretty cute.
