I watched "Meet Joe Black" last night and it was pretty good. It has Anthony Hopkins and Brad Pitt. Pitt plays death, attempting to go on a "vacation" among the living. It was very clever but could have been written better I think, to me the ending was too abrupt and didn't flow well with the story.
Meet Joe Black has been on my list of movies to watch for quite some time. I saw parts of it on T.V. a while back, but had to leave the house or something, so I never finished it.
I've recently watched Little Man Tate and Lucas. lolol Charlie Sheen before the crazy.

Synecdoche, New York is such a draining movie. Starting it when you've already been awake for 18 hours is a bad idea, too. I won't spoil anything, because it's an awesome movie to "experience" (fart noise). Highly recommend it. I believe I read somewhere, IMDB I think, that it was Roger Ebert's number one movie of the 2000s.. probably because it's the film equivalent of a Murakami novel. Go watch it!

Ironically enough, I saw "Se7en" the other night, followed by "The Fifth Element". Both outstanding movies! Kevin Spacey is a boss psychopath.
Synecdoche, New York
Wow. What an amazing movie. Just watched it. Bluesy stuff. Yeah really great, haven't seen such a movie before. Apparently it's called post-modern.

Haha...when I was a young kid, sometimes I had thoughts/dreams about my dad not being my real dad. Like he was put into a chest at the attic. And someone else took the role of my dad. All things remaining equal... you could not say that it was a replica. Although I always imagined that this dad was bad, or became more evil by time, haha.
Another time, when I was walking at the university, I was thinking by myself: "What am I doing here"... "I cannot be here", by now, at this time, I'm supposed to be dead... like I skipped my death and moved on... ' Yeah... strange thoughts.
Anyway great movie, may be a bit depressing though.
Go see Perks of being a Wallflower. It was very well done, acting was great, and Emma Watson was un-fuckin-believable
I want to doctor your quote to turn it into innuendo about Emma Watson and "fuckin" something, but it's too difficult right now, so...just make it up yourself. I second the Perks of Being a Wallflower recommendation. I enjoyed it. I also really really liked Looper. It's very refreshing to see modern sci-fi engage in a little mind-fuckery but have the decency to tie things up very neatly for you rather than being all "it raises more questions than it answers." Tired of that shit. Looper was great fun.

Wanted to take the lady to Perks of Being a Wallflower tonight but it stopped playing in my theater, so we'll be seeing Argo tonight! I'm excited!

Wreck-it Ralph and Skyfall are imminent. Skyfall is arranged because Dad wants to hang out for a day.

Any one watched Seven Psycopaths?
It looks funny and awesome. The humor looks dark from what I've seen. Though, it also looks stupid.
Thoughts without spoiling it?

Re: What movies have you watched recently?
Wreck-it Ralph was pretty good. Some criticism though, it turned out that a very large portion of the movie was in the Sugar Rush game that Sarah Silverman's character occupies, and it seemed like they went really heavy with candy related sight-gags to pad out that stretch of the movie, though admittedly there was one great one that had an unexpected role in the climax. It felt like the movie spent too much time spinning its wheels in Sugar Rush; there is a large chunk of that I think they could have done better, with some scenes running way too long as well as a rather pointless love subplot between side characters. Perhaps if the story had a plot point to visit one more different game in the middle, like maybe a tournament fighter, it would have been able to stay on message better.

Re: What movies have you watched recently?
I really wanted to see Wreck-It Ralph... until I found out Sarah Silverman had a hand in its creation. Her brand of humor really isn't my thing.

Seriously? Sometimes she's just a little too crass (like, for the sake of it) but I think she her sarcasm and wit bites hard - in a good way, generally. I actually heard Wreck-It Ralph was *quite* good - not just passable, but actually really solid.

Re: What movies have you watched recently?
Yeah, go watch it for sure. I just came out of it thinking it was very close to top shelf and trying to finger what could have been different to put it there.
I was able to sniff out one of the twists well before it revealed itself, but I wasn't expecting, and happy to see, that Vanelope wasn't there just to be the "annoying little girl". You will probably be moved by her character and the circumstance, the emotional weight pixar is known for is very much intact in this film, and the heart of the movie lives in Ralph and Vanelope. The main themes of the movie were done very well, the majority of the gags were very clever, it's just that I can't help but feel that certain scenes in the middle ran too long to show us too little. Even though the relationship between certain side characters seemed unnecessary, one the best gags in the whole movie occurs with them.
Also, before Wreck-it Ralph starts, you get to see an animated short film called "Paper Man." It was gorgeously animated; it was primarily in black & white with only red showing up for two objects, and it was a blend of CG styled charater and pencil work simultaneously. It was highly unexpected and remarkable to look at, to see classic disney linework floating and rotating on typical pixar CG models. The plot had a highly supernatural twist, that fate had felt it made a mistake and made the impossible happen to redeem it's mistake, definitely that patented disney magic overkill, but that kind of thing is just perfect for showing off a new visual style in a short form film. Very effective musical score.
You will probably get misty watching these two films together, for several different reasons. It's a pretty sweet bonus and a smart pairing by Disney.
