Last summer, "The Breaks" by The Black Keys was on one of the iPods in the restaurant I worked at. Soooo fucking badass. I only have that album, The Big Come Up (an older one). They're totally channeling some Jimi.

I used to be a huge fan of theirs. Their bluesy stuff was really awesome and not a lot of people knew about them. I bought everything of theirs I could find-- even singles and EPs. In recent years though (since about 2007), their music has really changed. I mean, sure, they're winning grammys and stuff, so good for them. A lot of people really enjoy their newer albums. But I just don't enjoy them. I tried, but I'm a much bigger fan of their blues rock.

They're from Akron, Ohio, which is only about two hours from me. Kind of a shame I never saw them live before they hit it big They put on one heck of a live show for a two-man band.

Lovin you right now. Which albums are you listening to? B&S have amazing song writing.

I've tried to get into Belle and Sebastian in the past but they've never really clicked for me. Any place I should start?

I almost bought 'The Boy With the Arab Strap' last year off the Android store. I'm not sure why I didn't, but I want to say it was a little more expensive than other albums I was interested in. I thiiiiink there was a deal where Slowdive's 'Souvlaki' and The Dismemberment Plan's 'Emergency & I' were both $5. I know the B&S album was $10. Is TBWTAS a good place to start? Any other suggestions?

Start with If You're Feeling Sinister. It's pretty much B&S's golden album, lush chamber pop. Stuart Murdoch has said If You're Feeling Sinister is likely their best collection of songs (albeit not optimally recorded). Dear Catastrophe Waitress is also good. I actually started with their second most recent album, The Life Pursuit - quite different, much more produced and poppy. Still very high quality though.
