Nice performance of [i]Let's See, If That's True Or Not[/i], starting from 18:00. With an intro and outro different from the studio version. You can see/hear the emotions of Sawao throughout the song.

Part 2, that is 'the pillows - 1999.08.25 Live' has an amazing set list... and a nice performance, especially the last song they played.

I'm not a fan of their live stuff during that period, too much distortion coming from Manabe's guitars, and Sawao's singing was off in some parts of the songs too. Tashikame ni yukou sounded pretty tight though.

What? I much PREFER it to most other eras, are you serious? Anyways, the date on "Part 2" is wrong. This show is actually from 8.25.[b]2000[/b]. This is a pretty great performance, and an excellent rendition of Skeleton Liar. Sawao and Manabe seem really, really into it, not to mention the crowd. Also, love how each band member makes the crazy voices in Advice. Of course, Shin beats them all. And the holy shit, that distortion on Manabe's guitar... friggin ace.

If we combined the recording quality they have today with the sound they had back then it would be my favorite. Other than Bubble town's happy zoo, I don't know of any other DVDs that have good live recordings from back then...

Blasphemy. If anything there's too much shit distortion on Manabe's guitar today. Today his tone is too bright and nasal. In the glory days (the days you apparently dislike), his tone was crunchy and awesome but still cutting.

I was referring the amount distortion he had around 1999 in live settings was just too vicious, I like distortion just like any other effects, that is used in moderation. Not sure about today though, mind posting some examples about it? I liked his tone from the glory days, I'm just not a fan of the amount of distortion he was using in those 2 videos, however I saw those videos once, but I did see the performances I have seen in the past that's included in the videos more than once.

What then is your "ideal" live performance?

Also, that ending to part 2...
