What does your family think about the pillows?
Just curious.
My mom really likes them, she has most of their good albums and really likes Please Mr. Lostman. Dad has pretty eccentric tastes and finds them to be boring. He couldn't get through Living Field cause he felt it was ascended elevator music at best. My sister used to like their stuff but now is bugged by the fact that it's in Japanese. Not sure what happened there.
How about you guys?

Re: What does your family think about the pillows?
My mom likes a few of their songs; mostly the stuff on Happy Bivouac. My dad seems indifferent towards them. My youngest siblings think they're alright, whereas my 20-year old brother thinks they're lame. He goes on and on about how they're unoriginal and untalented, and he feels that Manabe's a poor guitarist. He's a dumb hick however, which makes his criticism kind of hilarious to me. My wife is sick of them because I listen to them so much, and my son will dance to pretty much anything. Overall, I guess my family's opinions on the pillows are mixed.

Re: What does your family think about the pillows?
Everyone I know thinks I'm weird for liking Japanese music. I wouldn't dare show my family it but the songs I've shown people that have had a good response are 'Back seat dog', 'MY FOOT', 'Thank you, my twilight' and obviously 'Ride on shooting star'.

I guess indifference since they're Japanese. I showed my dad Hybrid Rainbow (subtitled on my YT from Bubble Town's Happy Zoo) after he said he liked it when I was listening to it one day... Actually, I recorded part of it on acoustic guitar and he said he liked it, then I showed him it...

Re: What does your family think about the pillows?
I know that my parents have always thought my taste in Japanese music is strange. My brothers are both fans, but not to the degree I am. My youngest brother really only has the FLCL stuff anymore, my next brother has most of what I have(which is a lot) but he doesn't listen to it as much...it's there because he has my old laptop.

Re: What does your family think about the pillows?
My Dad has liked them since I showed them to him many years back and took me to see them in NYC in '06. My brother got into them through me, and in '08 when the came back I went with my whole family. My mom wasn't sure what she was getting into, but she ended up liking a few songs as well, and loved Sawao. Then the last tour I went with my GF and she (though usually teasing me at how much I listen to them and with the fact that it's japanese music) ended up liking a few songs as well and she too ended up falling for Sawao with his little monologues and crazy moves. We got a pic together with him, so she was happy. So all in all, my family looks upon them favorably, and I've turned quite a few friends on to them as well, though one remains hopelessly ignorant and won't even give them a try.

Re: What does your family think about the pillows?
I can't imagine my mom liking their music. She's more the 'love songs type'. My father is mostly interested in jazz. So I'm not even trying. My brothers don't have a strong opinion, they just find it strange music.
I once gave a friend of mine a bunch of songs. He doesn't like Sawao's voice. He does like Gazelle city though. And he is in favor of the Kool Spice vibe. (He didn't recognize these were the same guys)
I'm surprised, still so many of your familliy members and/or friends ended up liking them.

Re: What does your family think about the pillows?
Mom is indifferent. She thinks Sawao is saying "Please, Mr. Oats-meal".
My dad thinks they are pussies, but he likes one song: Gazelle City.
Siblings: completely indifferent.

Re: What does your family think about the pillows?
My dad enjoys some of their late 90s stuff. He actually asked for a copy of Little Busters a few years back.
Mom and sister are indifferent.

Also, aren't there early albums jazzy?

That's awesome that you were able to share that with your family. I never would dream of sharing much of my music with my parents. =P They wouldn't like it.
But, I dragged my cousin to the LA show and she had a good time. My husband likes them well enough, though not to the same extent as me. Enough that he helped pick one of the pillows' songs we played at our wedding.
