Definitely watched the film version of that at some point in high school Japanese class. I thought it was a pretty cute story.

That's a very succinct explanation of Densha Otoko/Train Man. Hahahah

I actually watched the TV drama of Densha Otoko, and while the first three episodes or so were cute, the rest was... frustratingly boring.

Finished the Belgariad finally (Castle of Wizardry, Enchanter's End Game). I kinda lost interest toward the end but finished it anyway. Story is utterly predictable, although that's not necessarily a bad thing if you're just looking for bread and butter fantasy.

Now starting The Magician King. Much more interested in this one.

Started reading through Arguably, It's a shame Hitchens' death was my chief motivation.

Finished reading Train Man. It was ok. A lot of the posts that talk about how train man changed from a 'geek' to a guy with a gf was moving. A lot of how the people reacted really moved me. Mainly because I was like them at one point >.>'

Either way. I was really expecting for the chick to blow him off. It would of made for a better ending. A lot of what he did made me want to scream at him. "WHY ARE YOU CRYING?" I mean, i understand why. I was like him at a given time. But looking back...I guess I feel sorry for him if things don't work out.

I'll most likely continue reading 1984 again. I haven't even gotten that far into the back either way.

I picked up Train Man when the local Video Update went out of business, I thought it was decent but I really wtf'd when he abandoned her in the middle of a date for a prolonged period of time to run to a computer cafe and ask for advice. :eh:

Haha, 1984 rocked, I remember reading that in either 11th or 12th grade english, we had to take turns reading it aloud throughout the period. Once everybody read it for about a minute or so it went to popcorn reading, you'd read for a bit then say "popcorn ___" to pass it. Gotta be honest, the majority of my classmates were not very good at reading and orating, when it got to that point they basically popcorned to me and asked me to just run with it until the class ended. It was fun, I was happy to oblige. 8)

OH! You're talking about the video / drama / movie version :D I thinking to myself "I don't remember THAT part of the book" And that does sound rather, odd. :dizzy:

My brother gave me the book 1984 and told me to read it. He gave it to me a few months back. I was really busy at the time so I couldn't get a moment of reading. I can finally get times where I can read and have began to pick it up. Needless to say, I haven't read much of it. And i remember popcorn reading. Usually, in my class. The kids would popcorn the ones that didn't want to read just for the lulz. I hated it though. The way they would read. It was so slow and annoying. I'd read the entire store on my own but then I hated knowing that i'd have to hear them read parts I already read. And if they would of popcorn me I wouldn't know where I would be. :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy:

Popcorn reading was stupid. I hated the kids that couldn't read and would mess up all the easy words. My high school is 80% Mexican-wannabe gangster so their accents killed it for me. Should have stuck with honors/AP and become a douche bag.

Finally started on 1Q84, and I'm already in too deep. I'm not sure I'll be able to finish it before school starts...

I finished the Magician King. It was much better written than the first book, but parts of it I still found to be annoying.

Honestly, The Magicians may as well not even have been written as far as I'm concerned.

I know that feel. I'd been familiar with his work prior to his passing, but only recently have I developed an interest in actually reading it. I was sad to hear of his passing.
