I agree with Cloudy that this album will be much better than Discharge. Devil's Pub really sounds nice.

If it's gonna be a better album than Discharge, it will better be a REALLY FUCKING GREAT album.

Discharge is probably the best thing Sawao has shat for me in the last 2 or 3 years.

I think I'll like a couple of the songs. A couple sound very promising. I like the laid back, sentimental solo-Sawao stuff (Clare Butterfly, Dawn Speech, etc...). And with Kashima they can only get better.

SO here are my thoughts at the moment.

Tedious man sounds great compared to DISCHARGE. Though discharge was a random little beggar of an album basically,

Ive noticed over the years that some of the members of this forum post "songs that sound like" or "influences" on upcoming releases - essentially what appear to be similarities between a pillows song and another artists song.

Wow. The Born Again DVD opened at #1 on the DVD oricon charts. I was very surprised.

Born Again opened at #1 in its week of release, as mentioned (pretty impressive, indeed). Though it looks like it's dropped entirely out of the Top 20 this week (but there are also a [i]lot[/i] of new releases, and a few other DVDs that had been riding in the Top 5 for the last couple weeks have also vanished)

For the first week it was out it was #6. It's probably completely gone by now. the pillows/Sawao don't have much staying power, haha.

EDIT: Tedious Man didn't even [i]appear[/i] on the Oricon Charts. That's strange.

Ahah, here's the discrepency.

Born Again was #1 for the week among Music DVDs. It was #6 among [i]all[/i] DVD sales.

Impressive. But also deceptively so. Born Again was a DVD-only release - a waning format. A lot of the competition is also moving blu-rays. If you could look at combined blu-ray + DVD sales, I guarantee that Born Again didn't fair as well. But it's all moot, since as far as the pillows go, I'm sure they're very satisfying numbers.

Ah, that's awesome. Didn't notice that.

But still, what Tedious Man? I remember Discharge debuting in the top 10 of Oricon on the first day of its release (similar to how the pillows' releases do these days), but Tedious Man never even appeared on Oricon. I find that very strange. Especially since it was released with Born Again, and was probably on display with Born Again in stores.
