Re: What are you playing?
lol, I wasted money hiring soldiers right away my first playthrough and had to use shitty equipment. I restarted within the first chapter though and played much smarter. My third and fourth playthroughs were really just abusing the game, though, haha. BUT IT WAS SO MUCH FUN.

I got all the way to a...certain extremely tough battle in Chapter 2 and beat it before I stumbled upon switching classes. GOD the 3rd or 4th battle with the black mages and archers on the rooftops everywhere was difficult with a pure-squire team.

Re: What are you playing?
I know. That's the only real down fall. The good thing is the sonic games are also on sale. 1.27 a piece. So I guess it' evens out. I'm about to buy them.
I already own a majority of those games on dreamcast, genesis, ps3, pc. But i can't say no to classic sega crap >.>

Re: What are you playing?
Man, I feel like I'm going to be playing Dragon Age Origins until I'm an old man. Probably because I got sick of my first boring character and re-started a few hours from finishing the game, and also because it's huge on its own, plus DLC and tons of reading.
On the other hand, playing as a dual knife-wielding, lightning-fast rogue is great. Stunning my enemies and slashing them to ribbons at mach speed is tremendous fun and definitely my playing style.

Also: That game's "missions" take HELLA long to complete. Oh what's this? You just want to go into a castle and talk to the lord of the domain? You better clear 8 hours of your time if you want to get that far.

Re: What are you playing?
Heh, imagine that, except for with a little game called Dungeons and Dragons where you have to gather your friends together just to get 2-8 hours played (depending on how much they and you can spare for it) and not being able to reset the game if you mess up or continue after your character dies. You CAN continue, but with a different character, and it's not nearly as cool. Although, I will say, playing RPG video games after playing D&D a lot the last two years has made those games kind of less fun to play. Before it was like "OH WOW I HAVE CHOICES" and now it's like "Man, I have to pick between these three options? If this was tabletop, I'd..." then I remember it's not tabletop and just go and masturbate.
Although, I will say, playing RPG video games after playing D&D a lot the last two years has made those games kind of less fun to play.
You'd probably like NetHack then. It's a pretty old-school RPG that draws a huge number of monsters, items, and concepts from D&D (e.g. the race, class, and alignment system are pretty much identical to D&D's). It's also more similar to D&D than most modern RPGs in that the rules are basically hardcore, traditional role-playing rules. There's no resetting or reverting; you have a character you create, and the only time you can save your progress is when you quit the game (likewise, you can only restore a saved game when launching the game). And once your character dies, it's dead. For good.
I played this game a lot in high school, and I got somewhat decent at it. As I recently found out, though, it's a lot less frustrating once you've played D&D, since so many of the concepts are derived from it. Either way, it's a lot of fun, and I highly recommend it.

Re: What are you playing?
I played a bit of D&D with some friends last school year on Saturdays, and it was fucking awesome. Everyone slowly became "too busy" with fucking independent work and whatever other bullshit though, and we stopped getting together as Spring semester kicked into gear. Wish people would have stuck it out and made time for it rather than making excuses, but oh well.
I also rolled with a rogue for DA:O, and it is indeed the most badass set, it seems.
