Re: Guitar aesthetics thread
Nobody wins anything in an altercation, buddy. We all lose, but hopefully we walk away having learned something and with a desire to try harder to not be dicks next time.
And guitars. Again.

I think the next guitar I buy (the second electric lol) will be either a Thinline or Deluxe Tele, though I'm also open to a Jazzmaster, as they are also very sexy.

Re: Guitar aesthetics thread
Jazzmaster.
Have you looked at the Classic Player Jazzmaster? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/ ... ric-guitarHotter pickups, new bridge, thinner neck, better string break angle for sustain. There's nothing "Classic" about it, but the practical improvements sound interesting. I don't know if the "hotter pickups" are really necessary though. It's a Jazzmaster. If you want to trick it out, DIY.

Re: Guitar aesthetics thread
I'd have to try it out next to a normal Jazzmaster to have any clue, I didn't recall the neck on the few Jazzmasters I've tried being as annoyingly thick as, say, a Les Paul is for my hands, but if I got a Jazzmaster instead of another Tele, it'd be to get something that plays/sounds/feels different, so it does sound pretty interesting. This is all months off or more, though, I first have to get my Tele set up and my Blues Driver repaired.

Re: Guitar aesthetics thread
LOL@Spike's image. However, I gotta say Prince is pretty cool, and he's also a beastin' guitar player. So no knocks on the Prince guitar. Probably right on the "douchebag" scale, with the Fly and Steinberger. So true about the Thinline Tele, Rics and the like. But I can't place that last guitar! What is it?
And Mare: What kind of pickups do you have in your Tele? Is it the stock MIM?

Re: Guitar aesthetics thread
You were being relentless in your general dislike of him, not necessarily about the guitar, which you only mocked a little in the chat (pretty pathetic that you want to say "oh I only said x" when you said more than that, btw). My being "relentless" was only in response to him posting back at me specifically, while yours was private, sure. But you can't go around being a dick and then call out others for it. You're being ridiculously hypocritical in an attempt to make yourself look good, especially with this selective "what I said was" bullshit. Nice try, brahski.
GR actually has reason to not like me, you do not. And it is not cool to blab about your private conversation to try and make him look bad.
Nobody treated him with anything else until he got insulted that people disliked the look of one of his guitars. And even then, it was noted by multiple people that said parts would look good, just not on that particular body.
That is very far from the truth. I was only insulted by you, not because of what you said, but because of how you said it. Since we have been chating recently I did not believe you would have talked to me like that.
Also, GR, why would I still need to apologize to him? Until you and Thinline decided to stir shit up again, we were cool, according to him:
We are only cool in the sense that I do not actually care about your opinion. I just wanted you to shut up already, so I said we're cool. Please everybody drop this subject already. Let us discuss guitars. Spike where did that image come from? It is hilarious, except Manabe has one of those Steinberger guitars. My favorite guitar! It's an Alembic guitar played by Jerry Garcia.

Re: Guitar aesthetics thread
i fall firmly in the "total douchebag" category, which is fine by me. when it comes to guitar playing, i am a total fucking douchebag.
but as far as i can tell fender never made left handed thinline teles, so i'm entitled to shamelessly play whatever i can get my hands on.

Re: Guitar aesthetics thread
Yeah, there are some guitars in the left and middle areas I either have no problem with or actually like, but overall it's a pretty great pic.
And I'm sorry if me being grumpy makes me post angrily and troll people, apparently you've never done such a thing.
Apparently not. I think arguing on the internet is a stressful and time-consuming, so I generally try to avoid it. Watching other people argue, though - now that's fun. I have found this thread vastly amusing - not the least for interesting insights into Mare's character... My current guitar apparently places me somewhere on the right side of the "Total Douchebag" section. Not bad. Very amusing, and it's pretty pathetic to hear you throwing out these half-veiled character insults. More guitars and less douchery, kay?
