wtf. They didn't even bother to play any of the good songs off of Horn Again. Ugh. Well. Surely the show was enjoyable anyways. Edit: Wow. It's been confirmed. NO JUN. AGAIN.
No Jun means no chance for requests, no Swanky Street. I'm not sure if One Life is worth a grand to hear.

What the hell is up with no Jun? That's some bull. Who'd they get to replace him?

Well, I mean, it's not like this came out of left field. Whenever the pillows come to the States, they're gonna give us FLCL. Trying to convince them otherwise was a longshot, at best. That being said, still hopeful for the Seattle show.

Honestly, I much prefer FLCL-era to... well, anything from like the last 5 years. I know we're never going to get anything off of the early/mid-90's albums, so I'm willing to settle.
That's weird that Jun isn't with them again, though... are we going to see THE 4th bassist?
That's weird that Jun isn't with them again, though... are we going to see THE 4th bassist?
Doubtful, else we'd have heard something. Most likely just continued visa issues for Jun. I'm thinking that last night's setlist, save maybe some minor variation, will be par for the course for the tour because of the substitute basis. Rookie Jet will be a nice little surprise. Unfortunately, little. It's nice to hear something non-FLCL, pre-Penalty Life... but goddamnit, maybe next time they'll play Swanky Street or Strange Chameleon Pretty much what Tidus said about the Horn Again choices. Did All Ages play first, or Noodles? I may very well be lazy and not show up at Slim's until sometime approaching 8:30 tomorrow (i.e. after the opening act), but would be nice to see Noodles again. And what sort of merch did they have besides the tour t-shirts?

Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
Rookie Jet is a pretty awesome surprise in my opinion. And I'm very out of the loop, what's up with the lack of Jun?? Pretty expected setlist, but cool none the less, super pumped, and yeah, anyone that can give a merch report?? The merch up on the tour site was ever so slightly disapointing. As regards to lines, yeah, I got to the venue last tour iirc an hour before doors and the line was down the block, around the corner, down that block and around the corner again. I'm not too concerned with lines usually as I've become a pretty perfect crowd-snaker, though that last time even though I was so far back in line, I don't know what happened but pretty much no one was around the stage when I got in so I just ran up front and camped there for the hour, got my parents to get me the merch This year my girlfriend offered to do it since she's only going out of alliance and isn't a huge fan.

Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
We asked around before the show and heard about the no Jun thing, Monokuro bassist filled in again, even though Monokuro didn't play.
Merch was the 4 shirts on the website (Nap, pillows, noodles, all ages) some more random all ages crap, and a 10 dollar buster-kun pen. >_> I think there might have been a noodles album in there, too. But that was about it.
Oh and all ages opened up, they were meh-ish. The bassist had a lot of fun, but the singer seemed kinda fake.

Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
They also offered one of the Noodles albums for $5. Good deal. No pillows CDs again. Gargh. Was hoping to pick up a couple minus the international shipping fees. Jun had visa issues again. There was a good turnout despite the show being on Labor Day. There were a ton of people in the ticket purchase line, and not as many in the pre-purchased ticket line, so I guess a lot of people heard about the show late. LA crowd was the rowdiest (for a pillows show) I've seen... some people getting really cranky about the shoving (apparently a girl punched somebody?), couple crowd surfers, and one guy ran up and hugged Sawao. At least he did it when they weren't playing, Sawao took it pretty well. Teaser pic. Had a great spot where Manabe was doing his solos right in front of me. More after I get back home. A great show, but the set list is admittedly wearing thin. I will still love it every time they play Hybrid Rainbow and Funny Bunny and One Life but... some new songs would still be nice. Rookie Jet was a nice surprise although they have actually played it before in the US (okay... like once I think).

Nice I hope buying tickets beforehand means I get in sooner... Plus I plan on showing up around noon in Austin, I wanna get a real good spot so Idc about the wait... I saw a post on facebook where a guy said a girl was kicked in the face, that's all I heard (from crowd surfing or something).

Thanks Raidar and Terra, looking forward to more pic, vids, and reviews as the tour wears on. Very excited for Sunday.
From what I recall last tour, the Blender theater in NYC is very strict with riled up crowds, so that was a major plus.

Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
Come to think of it, I think I do remember hearing about Rookie Jet being played back in 2008 somewhere... or maybe Mexico in '06? Anyways, thought they would've at least put in more from Horn Again. No Movement... Emerald City even? Doggie Howl just so... meh. And didn't they lead off with Dance With God last time? Crap, if anything, throw some My Foot back in the mix. I don't think The Third Eye has been played in the US since 2006. If the pillows return in a year or two, I'm not going to expect any changes to the setlist. There's no changing ever it seems. And it doesn't help Jun is still gone.

Re: New US Pillows Tour. (Seattle date confirmed)
Wow, what's with all the hatred of the new stuff? Personally, I'm really glad to be able to have seen them, pricing aside. I know some people really enjoy the FLCL-era stuff, and while I enjoy listening to the FLCL-era music, I'd like some more diversity in their setlist. But if anything, I'd say I like the last five years of pillows better than the pre-FLCL stuff. Swanky Street, Please Mr. Lostman, and Strange Chameleon are nice, but I'd prefer hearing My Foot, Lemon Drops, and Tabasco Disco instead. Much more fun and upbeat.
