I wanted to burn a cd of pillows songs for Bam Bam at work, but I didn't have any discs to burn them to! So, I gave him a couple old ones I made from right after I found out about the band from FLCL.

That's the bread and butter anyways lol. He thought they were really good, btw. You just can't go wrong with Crazy Sunshine, Carnival, I Think I Can, Ross, Little Busters, etc.

Same story here, but back in 2006, when I had just started college. When I thought I'd try asking around to see if there would be any other Japanese bands I'd like besides The Pillows (having been very unimpressed with others I'd heard at the time), Jedi had the most useful advice by far and got me into a lot of the bands I love today (some, more than The Pillows.) Soulseek, those were the days. Now, I guess it's all about file upload sites instead, but it does bring back some memories.

Probably most of the people on this forum got off to an awkward start. I'm sure I said some silly stuff back in my early posts, too, but it is nice to know that despite the various problems I have with Instant Music, many members have grown up quite a bit. This is also why lurking before joining is not a bad idea. I think everyone's too hard on Metal, there are two or three members of this forum who truly annoy me, he's not one of them.

I remember gathering up all the pillows songs I could find on Napster when I first found out about them, back when Napster was the lawless frontier of file sharing. I had no idea when they were released or what album songs belonged to or anything. But it was all pretty good.

Nice! How did you find out about em? What did you download and how did you go about figuring out what was what later?

The first pillows stuff I ever had came from FLCL soundtracks...with the exception of two songs. Girls don't Cry and Ice Pick. Those I stumbled on randomly on a filesharing site. They might even have been labeled as other songs.
