Re: Favorite Song from Every Album
I guess The Pillows have put out a few more albums since I made my list.
Pied Piper: Across The Metropolis. Upon re-listening, this album has a few more good songs than I remembered but this is still easily my favorite. Sure its main guitar part is really similar to Tiny Boat and the bridge in Gazelle City (seriously, just play all three parts in a row) but hey, why mess with a good thing?
OOPARTS: Beyond The Moon. Sawao sure likes these "(direction) The (location) titles, huh? I love how this song starts, but I feel it gets a bit too conventional sounding once the distortion kicks in, and the chorus seems rather predictable to me. Still, it's a solid track.
Rock Stock & Too Smoking The Pillows: 1989. I'm not too crazy about some of the re-makes since I feel the production (and how Sawao's voice sounded at the time) is a big reason why the originals sounded so good, though Sullivan ni Naritai sounds great. But I've always liked the band's slower, more melancholic types of songs, so 1989 wins.
Once Upon A Time In The Pillows: Flag Star. Yeah, I'll give the "new" song on this collection credit, it's pretty good. But this is one of the stranger best-of collections I've listened to. It's their last release on King Records so you think it'd be the best of what they recorded between Fool On The Planet and My Foot. And it mostly is. But then they throw in Rush, Another Morning, and Please Mr. Lostman! Was there just not room for these on Fool on the Planet?

Re: Favorite Song from Every Album
Thread necro! Pantomime: Energy 90's My Life: Paris Girl Marie. Never Find is a close second. Moon Gold: This one is really tough. Unlike what I've read around here, I'd count Moon Gold among my favorite albums. Kimi ga Iru is probably my number one, but there are a lot of close seconds. White Incarnation: Compared to the albums before it and after it, I find this one to be slightly underwhelming. I mean, it's still really good, but it's got less going for it than Moon Gold or Kool Spice, IMO. 気にしてないよ wins easily. Colorful Pumpkin Fields is another standout. Kool Spice: The whole album is really strong. It's hard to choose a favorite, but I guess I'd have to go with Monochrome Lovers. Special CD: Ano Hito Onaji Sora No Shita De. This is one of their best songs. EvAr. Living Field: This is probably my favorite album overall. I'm going to say The Killing Field, but Climbing on the Roof is way up there too. Fucking awesome album. Please Mr. Lostman: Another excellent album. I'd have to say Trip Dancer. Not a huge fan of the title track or Stalker, however. Little Busters: One Life. Patricia is close behind. Runner's High: not a huge Runner's High fan. I'm not sure why so many IMers have enormous boners for this album. It's not bad, but it's not at all up to par with any of its predecessors. Borderline Case. Happy Bivouac: Masterful album. Last Dinosaur. Nearly everything else on it is God-tier as well, though. Fool on the Planet: Fool on the Planet. Smile:Smile, not unlike Runner's High, isn't bad. It's just not up to par with some of their other works. Hibi no Uta is pretty swank, though. Thank You, My Twilight:Shiroi natsu to...Robotman is a close second. Another Morning. Another Pillows: Lesser Hamster! Penalty Life:The re-recording of Boku wa Kakera is one of the best things they've ever recorded. I like it better than the original, in fact. Other than that, I suppose I'd have to say "I Know You" is my favorite. Turn Back: I'll say Liberty, although it pales in comparison to its original incarnation. I loved Ano Koro ni Modotte a ton as well. Seems that most IMers didn't really care for that one, though. Good Dreams: Frontiers Not a perfect album by any means, but a fairly solid one. My Foot:I'd have to say Gazelle City. Of all their more recent albums, I'd say this one is the strongest as a whole. Wake Up! x3:Sweet Baggy Days. This one was pretty good overall as well. Pied Piper: New Animal. I felt like New Animal was probably their best single since Shiroi Natsu to... Haven't really listened to Ooparts or Horn, Again yet.

Re: Favorite Song from Every Album
Ano Koro ni Modotte needs more love. It's pretty rare to see a fan who prefers their older stuff.
If you don't like PML (song) that much, you should listen to the live BotP version of it, which has this KICKASS intro not in the studio recording.

I mean, I like the song, but it's one that I don't listen to very often. Can any of you post the BotP version by chance? I still need to build up a collection of Live pillows stuff

Re: Favorite Song from Every Album
I was thinking of the 15th Anniversary edition version, my bad. Let me do some Google-fu and then I'll update this post if I find it. Not 15th Anniversary Special, but it has the awesome intro (and video quality) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71TF4kQ9Sr0

Re: Favorite Song from Every Album
Although I haven't listened to all their albums in depth as I have for other's I'll do my best with what I can.
90's My LIFE: Title track. Catchy, good music, I'm glad they still perform it sometimes. Please Mr.Lostman: 'Swanky Street', so much emotion in both the music and the lyrics, one of my all time favourites (yes, but terribly predictable). Though I must mention that the chorus fuzz guitar almost rips my ears off at the chorus, making me favour the single version, or even better yet, the remake on 'Rock stock & too smoking the pillows'. LITTLE BUSTERS: HOW DOES ONE CHOOSE A FAVOURITE SONG FROM A SOLID ALBUM? Ah... ah... ah... Either 'THAT HOUSE' or 'Patricia'. Why? Because I said so. HAPPY BIVOUAC: Same as 'LITTLE BUSTERS'. But 'Back seat dog' is such a goddamn earworm. Smile: 'Calvero', heard it first on 'LOSTMAN GO TO BUDOKAN' and it grew on me. Lyrics don't make much sense, but it's a fun song. But to be honest I haven't heard this album much, yet. Thank you, my twilight: Same situation as 'Calvero', the live version is amazing. MY FOOT: Title track. Straight away, solid drums, great fuzz bassline (I wonder if Jun composes his own, I like to think he does), and catchy lyrics. Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!: 'SCARECROW'. Hands down probably my favourite pillows song. Perfection, beauty, emotion. PIED PIPER: (I don't see why many of you hate this album...) 'Tokyo Zombie(The Knock Came At Dead Of Night)' love this instrumental. It's brutally powerful. And fun to play on guitar. Every member is highlighted at some point, even Jun. (Also Yay! Tokyo Ska horns on 'Tokyo Bambi'!) Rock stock & too smoking the pillows: '1989', great and well deserved remakes also. OOPARTS: 'Beyond the moon'. Absolutely stunning. Easily my favourite. TRIAL: The title track and 'Energiya' so far. 'TRIAL' is simple but the vocal melody and feel do it for me. 'Energiya' has the music and vocals, especially when Sawao hits that high note, shivers man.
Bonus: SYNCHRONIZED ROCKERS: Easily goes (for me) to ELLEGARDEN's cover of 'Funny Bunny' they eject the energy into that song that the original somewhat lacks. Also, BUMP OF CHICKEN for their originality (amazing arrangement) and just listened to Satou Chikuzen's cover, stays true and pulls it off.
