(I didn't find it, because then I was looking for a rom for the DS, and it isn't released for the DS.)
So it's probably better to drop IV and stop hoping it will get beter along the way?

VI was originally released in the USA as Final Fantasy III, that might help in your search for it. I found it pretty easily back when I was looking for the ROM.

Re: Best Final Fantasy? I didn't like IV when it came out. My cousin had the cartridge and I got a chance to try it. Then I played the DS version and found it quite enjoyable. I got Complete Collection on PSP but I'm still playing through VII. I want an awesome remake of VI but Square Enix doesn't agree with me.

Re: Best Final Fantasy? I remember we rented FFIV a bunch of times. I swear, as a kid I thought I was HELLA far into the game at Tower of Zot.  Never completed it as a child, though, that came later on when I had it for the playstation. Thankfully my parents grasped the idea of RPG = Too long to rent when FFVI rolled around. Phar-Mor loved us, we were chainsmoking Secret of Mana, FFIV, Mega Man 3 and 4, Contra Hard Corps, F-1 ROC II, Formula One: Built To Win!... Pharmacy video rental, I just nostalgia bombed.

it's a shame they're george lucas style face-fucking it's legacy.
