Re: Songs written by Kenji VS songs written by Sawao.
All I saw in the album booklet scans was credit to "the pillows". As for why I assume those songs, I assumed Kimi Ga iru because of some scene in the Walkin' On The Spiral documentary around when it talked about Kenji leaving, and Sawao said something about him on stage and then started playing Kimi Ga Iru. I said the others because they remind of that one in style. Don't actually know what was being said in the documentary, though, so I don't really know. Was hoping others did.

Re: Songs written by Kenji VS songs written by Sawao.
This is actually a good question. It would be nice to see if we could all track this stuff down.
I love how after Kenji left most songs started being credited to Sawao. Even if he did write them, it's just amusing.

Re: Songs written by Kenji VS songs written by Sawao.
Kimi ga Iru was definitely an Ueda song. I don't know which all ones he wrote, but the interviews say that it was about an 8:2 ratio of Sawao's songs to Kenji's, iirc.

It's kind of hard to tell who wrote which songs. It doesn't seem like many of us have copies of the early albums we can check.

Re: Songs written by Kenji VS songs written by Sawao.
More like it simply says songs by the pillows or something on the early album booklets as far as I can recall.

Re: Songs written by Kenji VS songs written by Sawao.
We have scans, though. Looking at 90's My Life Returns, it seems to say that all of the songs were by Sawao, with the exception of Sukitooru Tooi Tegami, which credits both Sawao and Kenji.
Unfortunately, none of the others seem to clarify like that one, though, but I'd bet Turn Back would confirm the songs on it (I don't have the scans).
Also, apparently Zin Yoshida did the bass part of Hello, Welcome to Bubbletown's yadda yadda, and not Kashima. At least, I think that's what it means when it says "bass: TATSUYA KASHIMA (except M1)".
EDIT: Oh, also, Kashima has arrangement credit, but not writing credit, on the Special CD.

Re: Songs written by Kenji VS songs written by Sawao.
According to the pillows cast book listed in the following Japanese wiki pages I'm going to post here, Ueda also did a bit of more songwriting during their first movement.
For pantomime, Ueda did composition for yume no you na yakusoku wa. For MOON GOLD, both Ueda and Yamanaka did the composition for I Need Somebody, and ame ni utaeba. Ueda composed sayounara daisan wakusei. He also did both the composition and lyrics for asoko e kaeritai. For WHITE INCARNATION, Ueda composed colorful pumpkin fields, paper moon ni koshikakete, kono mama koko de, blue march, and GOOD NIGHT.
Sorry if the first link isn't working I'm on an xp that doesn't support east asian languages (couldn't find the CD).

So I was right 3 years ago, Ueda wrote all the slow ballad songs that I dislike on those albums.

Ueda is a badass. Is it clear whether he wrote only those ones?

Pretty sure he wrote RoSS, too.

Re: Songs written by Kenji VS songs written by Sawao.
gtfo, right now.
Moon Gold is snooze-tier. It's no surprise that Sawao wrote the good songs on that album like Want To Sleep For and Foreigner. It's also not surprising that their first album after Sawao took leadership of the band and signed them to King Records (Kool Spice) was vastly superior and much more coherent stylistically than their previous work.

One of the most ridiculous things ever posted on the internet, ever. Seriously though, there are some great songs on this one. It isn't Kool Spice or Living Field, but it's hella good, IMO. Maybe it's got a few duds. But they're charming duds.
