I've been rewatching Higurashi. LOVE IT.

I just ordered 5cm/sec because it was finally re-released. I haven't seen it in a few years, and I'm really excited for it.

Just watched Ghost in the Shell SAC and 2nd GIG, and planning to watch Solid State Society shortly.

...and, many years too late, just watched Evangelion for the first time over these past two days.

I highly recommend both series.

Evangelion for life. It's an experience you'll never forget. Rebuild of Evangelion is fantastic as well.

Just purchased and watched 2.22 recently.

I'm all fucked up emotionally now, for some reason the end makes me very happy and sad simultaneously.

Rebuild is so much better than the original series. And less depressing.

Watched The Place Promised In Our Youth, the Makoto Shinkai film preceding Five Centimeters. Didn't like it quite as much but it was still very good. The only thing I can really complain about is that I think his character design is a bit generic in comparison to the incredible backgrounds/landscapes in his films. Really want to see the new one flick, though. Other than that... not much anime for me.

You say Rebuild is less depressing, but we're only halfway the show and everything's already gotten bat-shit crazy. We might end up with another 'WTF' ending similar to End of Evangelion. I actually hope we do.

Also, I think the studio that does the art for Makoto Shinkai's films has kind of trademarked that style. Beautiful backgrounds and environments paired with very crude character design.

Not really sure why, but I started watching some anime again recently.

Deadman Wonderland
My girlfriend has been crazy about this manga since I met her, and they finally animated it. I don't particularly like any of the characters, but the plot is sufficiently dark and twisted that I get pretty into it. Long story short, this kid watches as this bizarre red being murders his whole class, leaving only him alive, and he is then framed for the murders and sent to a privately-owned prison called Deadman Wonderland. Soon he finds that there is a secret inner section to the prison which holds people with a bizarre ability to manipulate their blood into weapons, and the prison makes them fight against each other daily to observe and study how this power works.

There's more to it, but that's the gist.

Blue Exorcist
Standard fantasy/school/shounen type show. Misfit/tough lead character finds out he is the son of Satan and enters an exorcist academy after Satan kills the man who raised him. A lot of boilerplate shounen stuff going on, but it's well done, and I find the exorcism theme appealing.

Stein's Gate
This somewhat-bonkers pseudo-scientist guy and his "research" team inadvertently discover that they can send text messages to the past. Slowly the dude's paranoid delusions about shadowy agencies trying to sabotage him seem more plausible.

Ok, so I came across this anime...

Now and Then, Here and There

It's one of those series where it's best not to know much about the plot considering it's only 13 episodes long:

But I watched the entire thing on youtube and gotta say.. what a f**king gem. :D

Awesome show. I picked up the old Media Blasters box set a few years ago. Worth every penny.
