Re: Radiohead (in general)
I've been chewing over Kid A for the past couple weeks or so. I'm digging it, actually.
OH SHIT, A ROCK BAND IS BRANCHING OUT, SOMEBODY CALL THE WAHMBULANCE.
In Rainbows had plenty of guitar. I see no problem with this.
Also, Give Up the Ghost is the best track.
I've been telling you guys this for years. It's just easier for me to respect a band whose sound progresses over time instead of a band who releases basically the same album over and over.
I disagree that they're getting predictable. I don't care what anyone says, NO ONE knows what to expect when Radiohead releases an album. If someone said OK Computer was going to sound like the Bends, they would have been wrong. Kid A like OK Computer, they would have been wrong, and so on. In Rainbows wasn't that much of a progression from Hail to the Thief, but it was a lot more focused, and the songs were stronger.
And they've released albums with little guitar before. For the last decade or so, there have only been a handful of songs where every member plays their traditional instruments.

Re: Radiohead (in general)
I've quite enjoyed King of Limbs. The final three tracks are definitely the standouts, but even Feral has grown on me, which really surprised me because I thought it was rather wanky and pointless initially.
the lack of guitars for a band with three guitarists is somewhat appalling.
It's the year 2000 again? This is exactly what people were saying about Kid A a decade ago
