Re: what are you reading?
You read Japanese well enough to get through a novel?
.
I wish that was true. Nah, sorry I misled you there. I accidently put on purpose the original title (It just sounded nicer, the Dutch title would be: Dans, Dans, Dans)

Re: what are you reading?
I meant about 1Q84. That's available only in Japanese right now, isn't it? Last I heard was that the translation was almost done, but not published yet. edit: Wikipedia says the first book won't be out in English until September 2011.

Re: what are you reading?
Erm, sorry to tell you this. But it is out in Dutch, both books. I just read, that Holland was the first country to come up with a translation. It was published on June, 25.
Guess, I'm very lucky!
I just read the first two chapters, it looks quite promising. There are two main characters. It goes like this: chapter 1: Mrs. Y chapter 2: Mr. X chapter 3: Mrs. Y
etc.

Re: what are you reading?
Nice, lucky you. I wonder why Rubin and Birnbaum are taking so long with their English translations. Oh well, they're among the best translators out there, so it will be worth the wait.

Re: what are you reading?
I'm reading The Lord of the Rings. I probably should have read the books ages ago. Currently almost done with The Two Towers. Probably going to tackle The Simarillion after the third book.
I finished Norwegian Wood last night and followed it up with a lot of vodka. Other than having sex, it seemed like the only appropriate thing I could do.
I just finished 1q84 (book one). I'd advice you to have at least one bottle + one woman ready, when you do the same.

Oh God, Norwegian Wood. Remember the chapter with the 13 and 30 year old? Best. Book. Ever.

Re: what are you reading?
Yeah, I often enjoy Murakami most when he goes off on mini-stories in his longer novels. Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is also really good at that. Boris the Manskinner, baby.

I know right. That one is particularly memorable.

Re: what are you reading?
I wish Vintage would publish a complete copy of Wind-Up Bird. The version currently available has missing chapters. This is what your capitalism does, Kyle.

I'm currently reading a collection of poems by William Carlos Williams and "The Bone Setter's Daughter" by Amy Tan... yep.

Re: what are you reading?
Re-reading Stephen King's The Dark Tower. After that: The Stand, because I'll never tire of that one. Then, I think, Raymond Benson's James Bond novels...

Re: what are you reading?
My English teacher's positive attitude toward fiction pushed me to pick up The Hobbit.
Something about the British fantasy literature vibe... it pisses me off. It's all the same shit. Then again this is a children's book.
