What do you guys think of Bump of Chicken? They showed up on my Last.fm recommendations, so I decided to look them up. I think they're really good, and added them to my playlist immediately.

If you have the Synchronized Rockers tribute album, you should already know who they are.
Pretty good band. Check out Tentai Kansoku, Sailing Day, and their astounding original Hybrid Rainbow.

Yggdrasil is an album everyone should have. Guild, Sailing Day, and sharin no uta are all just fantastic. They put out decently good albums very consistently, so if you haven't checked them out, you should definitely get around to it.

My favorite song of theirs is "Ever lasting lie." Sounds like a march of the dead, especially in the instrumental break .

Their new album, orbital period, is goddamned amazing.

Yeah, it took them freaking forever to get it out though. :/

I'm a big Bump of Chicken fan, and like a lot of us(at least this is what I expect), heard of them from their Hybrid Rainbow cover. That is the best cover on Synchronized Rockers, hands down.

Mare, In addition to orbital period taking forever to come out, this is their first single in two years. I hope the trend doesn't continue.

Listened to it, seems a pleasant song, if a little subdued. I'll wait to see how it fits into their next album, but it doesn't sound bad at all.

The new album is COSMONAUT. It came out on December 15th and flew under my radar! But I just got it and it sounds great. These guys are having a good album spree. Check it out.

Same old same old, or have they evolved their sound yet? The two singles I listened to just now didn't give me much hope. If I want classic, melodic Bump, I'll listen to old Bump, because it's better. Please tell me that the non-singles make up for the blandness of the singles though.

There are a few standout songs on the album, but the rest, including the singles, are similar to Orbital Period. I still think Orbital Period is best, since it feels like an album with a beginning, middle, and an end, with some great lyrics.

Agreed with that. I still like these guys sound though. The third song on Cosmonaut(Funbetsu Funtouki) kicks ass. Kind of makes me want to dance.
