Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
I tried watching Soul Eater and I was absolutely disappointed.

Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
I know what you mean.. I thought it ended pretty badly but the action was a major plus.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think the ending was different from the manga which is... correct me if I'm wrong... still running?

Hunter X Hunter.
Kinda like Naruto. But in here Ninja's are Hunters. Naruto = Gon. I like the lightheartedness of it. I especially enjoyed OVA 1.

The action was definitely good. But I just was disappointed with the fact that it was obnoxious as fuck, and besides it's sort of unique art-style, it was a generally run-of-the-mill anime.

Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
So, I feel like I'm always way late on the anime train, at least 2-3 years after a show has finished anyway. I just started watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and man, Jomei was right; it's fantastic. I thought it was kind of lame at first, what with the face mechs and "beastmen". Granted, it's not really that intriguing plotwise, but Kamina's character [ ] really redeems it, he reminds me of Mugen [Samurai Champloo] in a way, except much more admirable. The interaction between him and Simon is really great, makes me wish I had an older brother like him.

Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
Double-post.
So I just finished Lagann. It was amazing, just amazing. I can't believe I almost missed out on it because I did an off-the-bat judgment from watching the first five minutes. Probably the most inspirational show I've ever seen, and before anyone rolls their eyes at my loving response to it- I guarantee that if you watch it, you too will cry manly tears.
I loved the themes [ascension, spirals, power of confidence] and the strong character progressions. Just about everything "evolved" in the show as the story went on- characters changed both physically and mentally, battles grew in scale and became more and more awesome, all of it making the whole series totally dynamic. The plot unfolds in a way that at first seems totally predictable and shallow, but ends up having lots of unexpected twists and depth, in addition to the tear-inducing symbolism.
The only negative things I can say about it are that it had a lot of Narm-y moments [certain character's faces just ruin dramatic moments], and, in spite of [or maybe as a result of] the steady pacing, certain emotional or serious parts were sped through or unable to be developed upon, feeling rushed so that suspense never dropped.
Still, it's become one of my all-time favorite shows, and I'd recommend this to anyone here. To me, it's of masterpiece quality, I know I'll never forget it.

Panty & Stocking with Garter Belt
I've seen one episode of it, and it's kind of funny, but I don't know, it seems like they are just experimenting with animation styles while trying to present an ultra whacked-out story lampooning the shit out of sexual themes in anime. Seems kinda like a less graceful Excel Saga. Not to say that series didn't have it's low points either, but I'm just saying I'm not impressed by the concept of "Let's make the most retarded premise possible/Brainstormed the entire thing on a bus ride".
Anyone remember the Ren and Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon Show fiasco? Oi.

Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
I dropped Eureka Seven. First few episodes really grabbed my attention and I was inspired for another great anime. But as the show progressed, it didn't match my expectations. There was nothing interesting about it at all. The characters became from cool to annoying in just a few episodes. I didn't like where the story was going, and every single development made me cringe a bit. The humor was good though, shame about the rest.

Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
I just finished watching Xam'd: Lost Memories this morning. Truly great series. I was crying like a little bitch through most of the last three episodes, but tears escaped me here and there through the entirety of the series. I believe that any anime that can rouse a true emotional response from the viewer merits a recommendation. This series is truly above and beyond the vast majority.
