Re: [2010.12.01] MOVEMENT - New Single
Each time I watch the vid, I keep getting distracted by the fat cameraman behind Manabe. What the hell is that dude chowing down on, he's really going to town on whatever it is.
I'm curious to know what this song is exactly about. What the hell is a "forward movement'? Mare, or anybody else with some Japanese under their belt, can you make anything out to give a guess on what he's singing about?

As usual, Grey's analysis was pretty accurate. I basically agree with him. But in short, this is a lot better than the last single. I like it.

I think it'll take a while for this song to grow on me, but I like it overall. Makes me feel optimistic about the new release.
I'll go with GR on this:
Anyway, yeah, good stuff. Not revelatory and not the big turnaround we've been hoping for...but things could be a lot worse, right?
I am the only one here who liked the outro? I loved the "Forward Movement"!

It's called compression, and yes - in a way, it is the opposite of dynamics.

Holy shit. Last Dinosaur -> Century Creepers -> Movement It's a beautiful line of descent (each child is poppier than the one before, but it's still got that rock and roll feel, thanks M7 chords ), and I'm really digging this song more after repeat listens. I think when we get higher quality, we're really going to dig it.

Re: [2010.12.01] MOVEMENT - New Single
This website: http://loveasiamusic.wordpress.com/2010 ... -movement/ is saying that the other 2 tracks from the single were named: “Split Emotion,” and “Gloomy Night.” Anyone has any idea if that's true or not?

The next album is looking like the first one I'll buy since MY FOOT

Re: [2010.12.01] MOVEMENT - New Single
GR said this reminded him of Liberty. I can see this. I feel like this is one of those songs from back in the day that got revamped for a Turn Back like release (this of course, is not the case more than likely. I'm just saying that for comparative purposes).
The lead guitar part is probably the best thing Manabe has done... in a long time. And it's not even all that engaging (compared to his heyday, obviously), but there's something about this song that is fresh (other than the fact that it is new? lol).
I look forward to the single. I hope the B-sides have a lot to offer.

Re: [2010.12.01] MOVEMENT - New Single
If one of the b-sides is actually called "Split Emotion", then I'd guess that it would be another Engrish Songs. If I'm right about it, I'll be sadly disappointed

Re: [2010.12.01] MOVEMENT - New Single
Great song all-around. Coolest riff I've heard from the pillows in a long time. First impression is that it feels a lot more like the "classic" pillows style than most of their recent stuff, but I probably wouldn't be able to back that up with any substantive evidence.
I thought the solo was pretty well-composed for the most part, even if it felt a little cut-off. Nevertheless, in general, just because a solo is short doesn't really make it any less substantive or musically strong. A concise, very well composed solo can easily complement a song much better than a two-minute noodle-fest can.
The outro wasn't incongruent enough for me to notice during the first few listen-throughs. And after listening to it some more, I can see what you guys are talking about, but…it's still fine, I think.
I don't want to jump the gun just yet, but I have a feeling this might become one of my favorite pillows songs.

The solo was fine, but for how brief it was, I just don't like the way Manabe got out of it. 3-4-5 and then a very short pause before you go back to the chorus? That's so... cut and paste.

Re: [2010.12.01] MOVEMENT - New Single
Haha, at first it sounded like Sawao was saying "My full-on movement" I like the song, but I felt the chorus lacked a solid hook, there was just something a little off. The video actually reminds me of this Besides that, I'm actually really excited for this single.
