Manabe's Overdrive is a rare amp and although I can't make it out for sure I think that might be an OR80 he's playing. He's almost certainly using some sort of speaker attenuator since an Orange head easily produces enough volume to piss off the apartment building. That or he lives in the countryside or something. His tone and playing are amazing, though.
He's playing a 40th Anniversary model, they were special edition re-issues of the old 1970's OR50 head. Going by the faceplate his is the cheaper model (in the 1K range) and not the 'Custom Shop' head.

Check out the Happy Bivouac cover on his channel. It's awesome!
He played right! :D

Sans Octaver. From a technical standpoint Keitaro & Kurama had a better duo cover because they attempted to incoorperate an Octave pedal which is the only true way to play the album version. Orange guy should have covered the live version since Manabe didn't use it there.

edit: I just noticed in the title he mentioned the 916 DVD, and listening to it again it has the drum intro, just didn't sound like the live version at first glance. Smart choice, then.

He posted this in one of his comments: Hello. The score is not put on the market. It was completed by the ear and eyes while seeing DVD.

The little bastard has Manabe's guitar.
Man, I wish I could buy one of those...
GR better get working on a new pillows cover (MM, perhaps?) because this was awesome. Even if he was a little off in a few places, he demonstrated an intimate familiarity with the song and a remarkable competency in its performance.

By the way, are unusually situated right angles the equivalent of quotation marks in Japan?

Yeah, this cover was pretty much amazing. Nailed the tone, nearly. And inexplicably off in a few places (sort of shocking, the rest of it was really really good). I'm not really up to that level of ability. I can't really do a cover, being in college and all (I can't do shit in one take, and I play too loud to be comfortable with in a dorm). But this winter break, maybe. Mare and I have been talking, too.

Yes,「 and 」 are the equivalent of opening and closing quotation marks in Japanese (Western quotation marks can be confused with the marks used to change k sounds to g sounds, so are usually not used, but are at times).

GR and I were tossing around the idea of covering Shiroi natsu, but I'm not confident I can really do well at that final explosive verse and HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, at least not well enough to do the song proper justice. If IM would rather us go for that, we might try it anyway lol.

Do it, if for no other reason than the fact I love that song. But only if its the album version and not the PV version.

Skim Heaven would be a fun song to do, I think.

Old school pillows 8)
Anyway, I assume it's a little hard to play the rhythm and sing, but I hope that doesn't dissuade anyone from performing it! I'd really like to see someone here do it. I'm unfortunately not talented enough to do so.

I know lead on Skim Heaven and play it with the song all the time, but from what I understand Sawao has really weird rhythmic timing in that song. Someone like Mare who knows more about playing and signing could probably eloborate.

Old school? Smile is like the halfway point of their career, right after their peak in 1997-2000.
