I will be reading that one after I'm done with Running From Safety. My girlfriend got me into richard bach books. I've read The Bridge Acroos Forever, Johnatan Livingston Seagull and currently reading Running From Safety. I will be reading Illusions, One, and one other I can't put my finger on at the moment. The Bridge Across Forever was interesting.

I'm about 75% through Atlas Shrugged. I seem to be one of those rare people who neither worships nor hates Ayn Rand, agreeing in part with her ideas (economic) but not the whole (moral). The novel's far from perfect, but it's a fascinating story and certainly different from other fiction, particularly in terms of how characters think behave. If you don't mind a 1000+ page book, I'd recommend it.

Next up is The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein.

Not to get on your case or anything, but that's probably the vast majority of people. She has some crazy ideas that are impossible for most people to even wrap their heads around, but you'd have to be rather ignorant not to at least support some of the basic principles she espouses, many of which coincide with libertarian thought.

Most of the response to her work I've seen online consists of rabid frothing-at-the-mouth haters and cultlike worshippers, but then again, when has the internet been any sort of representation of how people act in the real world?

I just read "If on a winter's night a traveler..." by Italo Calvino and am currently reading "The Counter-Life" by Phillip Roth for my English 101 honors class. I also read some short stories by Jorge Luis Borges in his "Labyrinths" book for this class, as well as read "An Analysis of a Case of Hysteria" by Sigmund Freud for my Literary Theory Honors class.

Finished Heinlein, it was good. Now on Foucalt's Pendulum by Umberto Eco. If you like conspiracies and intricate plots, this is one of the best in the genre. Hacks like Dan Brown should kneel before Eco's stunning command of history, arcana, literature, and linguistics.

I actually bought this book a year ago and got about halfway through it before getting distracted by something else. I started over reading it from scratch and it's a lot easier to follow now. Rewarding, but not the easiest stuff in the world; sort of the literary equivalent of a Yes or King Crimson album.

What in the... fuck was this book even about?

Currently reading The Lord of the Rings (yeah, I know I should've gotten to this years ago) and a book on the socio-historical context of the New Testament. You know, light reading!

I love The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, but I think it's best enjoyed as a series of stories rather than one continuous narratives. The stuff in Manchuria and Creta Kano's story are my favorite parts of the book.
