Re: REQUEST - SCANS
Man, high quality scans would have been so great when I was romanizing those songs. I had to squint at a screen, look up characters, and then listen to double-check on a lot of them. Nice.

Re: REQUEST - SCANS
This is a pretty big request, but would anyone be willing to scan the entire best collection band score? Seems like it just recently went out of production. I ordered one from HMV a while ago, waited three weeks or so, and then they cancelled the order because they apparently couldn't get it. Amazon.jp no longer carries it either, and now it seems like you can only get used ones for outrageuous prices. I'm still hating myself extremely hard for not having ordered it earlier, so if anyone would be willing to help.. it would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Oh also I know someone tabbed out the entire score in GP5 and uploaded it, but it seems to have quite a lot of mistakes (no offense to whoever did this, I do appreciate your efforts). And it doesn't have all the extra goodies like interviews and member biographies and commentary and whatnot. Thanks a bunch for the Pantomime scans, by the way. Their early stuff deserves a lot more love.

Not sure what mistakes you're referring to, i've compared it to my copy and the songs are identical.

In other words, those mistakes are printed in the book.

Oh wow, I had no idea o_O In that case, my request just became a lot less important.
Pardon my ignorance.

Re: REQUEST - SCANS
I'm actually rather curious as to which parts of the score sound like they have mistakes, to your ears.

Re: REQUEST - SCANS
These are just the parts I remember off the top of my head (currently don't have access to gp5 since my desktop comp was recently destroyed by a massive power surge D: )
Strange Chameleon - beginning of the solo sounds off, and the part in the middle of the solo with the bend looks/sounds different in the "score." And the first two bars after the solo (in Manabe's part) don't seem quite right. Swanky Street - solo sounds ok, but a bit different from the original recording. I know this isn't supposed to be a big deal at all considering how weird (in a good way!) the solo is to begin with, and the fact that Manabe plays it differently at every live concert ever, but it bothers me since I'm really anal about playing everything exactly the same as the original. Same case with the arpeggios at the beginning of verse 2 - they sound fine, but different. I don't know if this was intentional or not. Carnival - at the end of each verse, Sawao's parts sounds wrong. It should end with 355xxx but in my score it ends with x355xx (this isn't a big deal at all but it makes me doubt the accuracy of the rest of the score) ROSS - end of the second chorus sounds reeeaally sour. Though it could just be because I'm using the crappy MIDI sound effects - perhaps it sounds fine with real instruments?
I downloaded the score from here. And again, my apologies if I'm actually completely retarded.

Re: REQUEST - SCANS
Well no fucking duh it's going to sound different if you're listening to it in Guitar Pro. I have noticed absolutely zero mistakes, myself, but even if you score it out perfectly it's not going to sound quite right in some parts if you playback with GP. Try learning how to play it perfectly on your guitar and THEN tell us that it's wrong, lol.

Re: REQUEST - SCANS
Ok let me clarify that, ROSS is the only song of those four that I haven't bothered trying to play all the way through. And I still suck at Swanky Street's solo (lol) so I won't say anything about those two. But those few bits in Strange Chameleon are messed up. And yes, I can play them perfectly on my guitar. They sound like crap (the actual notes, not my guitar playing). I've compared the scored version to the original recording and several live shows, and it's definitely wrong. Same with the part in Carnival. They're minor mistakes, but mistakes nonetheless.
so yeah...I don't really know what else to say ._.

Re: REQUEST - SCANS
I've played the Strange Chameleon solo countless times via the bandscore and never noticed any mistakes.
EDIT: looked at the carnival score from the GP right now though and compared with the actual score, and it looks like whoever scored that out made the exact mistake you mentioned, but again, the band score itself is flawless.

Re: REQUEST - SCANS
If it's not too much trouble, could you look at the gp5 version just to verify that it's correct?

Well it's probably one of the easiest songs they've ever done. I've looked at the file and it's 100% accurate.

Re: REQUEST - SCANS
I just checked the Strange Chameleon GP file, and I see the mistakes you're talking about. Allow me to fix that for you with a 100% accurate one that I scored out myself: http://www.mediafire.com/?0yjdlznqinzIt looks like the problem in that GP file stems from the guy who tabbed it out not understanding wtf he was reading (i.e., reading and scoring out a grace note rather than a "choke," or a bend). I'd assume that for the MOST part, those GP files are going to be correct, but it looks like there are going to be some problems like that in there, so I'll probably go through and properly score everything out this summer or something. Edit: Also, I was confused here, because rockman was saying whatever mistakes you were talking about were in the book, I kind of assumed you were saying that the score itself had errors. The GP files do appear to have some errors though, for sure.

Re: REQUEST - SCANS
Awesome, thanks Mare. Looking forward to the accurate GP files, but take your time and don't feel pressured or anything just cause I'm complaining about crap. I suppose I'll go learn ROSS in the meantime ... or maybe I should go get my comp fixed so I can actually use GP again -_- lol Thanks again.

Re: REQUEST - SCANS
Unless people really, really want the vocal lines, i'm not going to bother scoring those out, btw.
