Re: what are you reading?
I recently read Zen Flesh, Zen Bones, or something roughly like that. Contained the Gateless Gate, the Ox pictures, and 101 other short Zen parables. Like almost every Zen work, it was a good read. The koans in Gateless Gate were a bit hard to understand, but those are the ones that should be reflected on most, I assume. I'm also reading a book on bilingual living, learning, and whatnot.

I wasn't a fan of the Ender saga thing, but I seriously enjoyed the Bean stories (Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon etc.)

I was actually talking about that briefly with Skool last night. The Bean series is the most consistently good of the two sets, with most of the books being nearly as good as Ender's game. The Ender saga can get a little slow sometimes, but is also still quite good for at least one read, because the story itself is decently cool.

I'm 1/3 of the way in Ender's Game and I'm loving it already.

Re: what are you reading?
I finished it earlier this week and I also enjoyed it. Second half seemed a little rushed to me but it was still pretty satisfying. Also, wow, Perks of being a Wallflower. I really enjoyed that book, it really did take me back. It's definitely a book that I would read again and again over time.
Starting on Kerouac's On the Road today.

Currently about halfway through Stranger in a Strange Land, Robert Heinlein's most famous work. Pretty interesting read so far. It's got a lot less of the stereotypical "sci-fi" feel to it than I expected, since there's a lot of interpersonal drama that drives the story.

Dude, you should read the rest of the Ender books when you can, especially the Bean series. Bean's tale really satisfies your curiosity for what happens to people next, but I would suggest finishing the Ender series first.
@Orochi:
STARMAN JONES. Read that shit if you haven't. It's a very fun one.

Re: what are you reading?
Any of you read The Magicians by Lev Grossman? If you haven't you should. Holy fuck it's fantastic, if you can digest the disgusting amount of French terms thrown in that is.

I just read it last month. I don't remember a disgusting amount of French terms.
I don't know if I would say it was fantastic, but it was pretty good.

Re: what are you reading?
I've almost finished reading The Agony and the Ecstasy, a semi-biographical novel about the life of Michelangelo. Seems like the sort of thing that would be easy to royally screw up, but this (700+ page!) book was obviously the product of meticulous research and it really shows - it's turned out to be quite an insightful read.
I also read Inherit the Stars by James P. Hogan, a scifi novel about the discovery of a 50,000-year old astronaut corpse on the moon and the resulting series of discoveries that offers a fascinating alternative origin of the human race. I'd definitely recommend this to those of you who liked Ender's Game, although this book is less character-based. You can read the whole thing here.

Re: what are you reading?
I'm currently reading The Translator: A Tribesman's Memoir of Darfur by Daoud Hari. It follows the conflict and genocide in Darfur through the eyes of a Fur native, who plays translator for a British journalist trying to gather information to release publicly. Really interesting so far, really puts one's quality of life in perspective too.
