The problem with any adaptation is that there's a difficult balance of preserving enough of the original story and details while still making a decent, self-contained movie that will appeal to more than just fans of the original work. Unfortunately the adapters often add too much of their own touch, or try to cram too many characters together into a nonsensical plot.

If you want an example of a decent live action adaptation from anime, Initial D is pretty good. I didn't agree with the way they changed the father's character, but at least it worked for the movie. I also enjoyed Casshern but never saw the anime, so I can't speak to how good of an adaptation it was.

I'm going to be optimistic. Mainly because the trailer looked decent, and because I really could go for a movie like Beck, even if it isn't a terribly good adaptation.

I just don't see how the whole thing can be cut down to a two-hour movie, and making a series of sequels always causes problems.

My god, the Initial D film was hilarious. The were cheering on Takumi after he got his 4-AGE Redtop in his AE86, it was so funny, I had no idea what they were saying and I was in tears. Itsuki turned into Amu. Oddly enough, there was a guy who looked just like him at my old high school, we used to call him Amu, and he had no idea why. Best part was his real name was Hansel, and he is Korean.
Beck can only be better.

I have no idea what you're talking about.
