 New album
Question: If you had to choose ONE band to release a new album tomorrow (whether they have one planned or not), what band would that be?
Rules: 1) Band in question must still be together and producing music (no Beatles or Sparta Locals) 2) You must consider the band's current sound and predict what their next album will sound like (anyone saying "The Pillows" gets an automatic disqualification)
For me, I'd say...Belle & Sebastian. Maybe Monkey Majik. But probably Belle & Sebastian. Go.

 Re: New album
My first reaction to this thread was "THE CHEWING GUM WEEKEND"
But then I read the title. DAMN.
I don't know... One Less Atlantic. A local band.

 Re: New album
Aren't you guys breaking the rules?
I'd like a new Mastodon release. Their most recent album, Crack the Skye, was a huge musical leap from their past 3 albums (which were mindless metal albums). With each release, their music just gets better, so a new album would make a lot of people, including me, happy.

Probably the Silversun Pickups.
And yeah, Crack the Skye was awesome.

Great thread Grey. And I love you Mare, Mock Orange is fucking great. We work is one of my favorites,
Hmm, for me, I would say the Wombats. Their music just makes me jump for joy! Either them, or the Pigeon Detectives. I would LOVE new albums for those two.

 Re: New album
For me, it would be The Shins, L'arc~En~Ciel, or Sambomaster.

 Re: New album
Hmm…I was debating for a while between the Shins and Rush, but I'd probably go with the Shins. Mainly, I'd just really like to hear more from the Shins in general, who have only really released a total of three albums (compared to the 20 or so Rush has put out).
A new album from either band would be great, though. Pretty much all of the Shins' stuff has been quite interesting and enjoyable so far. Rush's latest album was quite an improvement in terms of their modern sound, which makes me enthusiastic about new material from them.

 Re: New album
The Strokes, or the Black Mages.
Although a Strokes album is on the way, but a TBM album is out of the foreseeable future.

 Re: New album
Jimmy Eat World. I wasn't really impressed with a lot of Chase This Light though I really loved the singles Big Casino and Always Be. I thought Futures was for the most part great, I wouldn't say try to make another Futures but try to recapture that big presence that most of Futures and Bleed American had and run in a new direction with it. Chase This Light had a few songs that were trying to be big anthems and they just didn't have the guts. Let the hits happen, don't try to force hits.
Oh Rush, that reminds me I haven't heard Snakes and Arrows yet. I have Vapor Trails and Test For Echo added to my dad's larger collection, and while some songs stand out as real bangers, for the most part those two albums were fairly decent but nothing spectacular.

It's a fairly solid album, overall—a lot more reflective and laid back than Vapor Trails and Test For Echo. The first four tracks on the album are absolutely kickass, and the rest of the album is pretty good too.

 Re: New album
Ginnan Boys. Absolutely no question. The Strokes are up there, too, but their "current sound" is questionable. I'd also like to hear from GO!GO!7188, but I know they'll be out with something before too long.

 Re: New album
I know the rules but still:
The Stone Roses, though them even reuniting would be a total miracle, then theres the fact one would have to wonder if they would even sound good anymore after so many years. But nonetheless it would be pretty awesome to hear them once again.
ZEPPET STORE, them reuniting would be amazing in itself. But their final album before disbanding was pretty awesome (though it didn't really ring of it being a swansong album) so even if they decided to reunite just to make a proper farewell album odds are the results would be stellar.
L'Arc~en~Ciel, even though HYDE's been doing shit work outside of the band lately the time feels about right for another L'Arc album, I think the hiatus will probably make for a decent album (at least something superior than their last album, that was just a disappointment compared to their past albums, even SMILE was better than KISS.)
Anyways realistically speaking, heres what I want NAO: the deluxe reissue of Pinkerton and a new Company of Thieves album (based on their debut album they really should have some more awesome stuff up their sleves).
