You've never heard the Pillows fan club CD? ;O

Here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8JLN6K4G

edit: oh u have it?
Yeah, I thought you were talking about a CD from some other band.

The mere fact that the Special CD is from 1993 automatically makes it better than anything after 2002.

Every band is unique. You can't point out something and say, "I would have never thought to do that! Therefore, it's Japanese! Fucking Q.E.D., bitches!" Furthermore, anyone who thinks that the pillows are reminiscent of Michael Schenker or Paul Gilbert is either mildly retarded, or perhaps possesses borderline intellectual functioning. I'm not making fun of them, I'm just saying - there are governmental agencies that they should seek help from. That said, I don't think that intelligence has ever been a primary factor in music school admissions.

Now, TJ, I'm not saying that you're necessarily wrong about your assertion that the pillows have a Japanese sound, I'm just saying that your argument is shit-fucking-terrible. If you want to make even a halfway decent argument, you should consider the following elements:

1) Unless your music school friends are majoring in "International Music Styles," then they are no better an authority on this than Jomei. It's like getting a cancer diagnosis from a podiatrist.

2) The most important element that you must prove is an evolution of this "Japanese style" that you are speaking of, and you must connect that evolution to the pillows. That is, you must point out the progression of Band A > Band B > Band C > the pillows, and draw connections between them.

3) Not only must you establish a pattern, but you must prove it to be unique, and particularly unique to Japan.

If you can do this, go ahead. But if you can't, then you're wrong - plain and simple.
I had shown them the music I write and they told me the melodies have a Japanese flavor to them. I never thought of it before much like you guys haven't. Then after showing them the pillows they saw what influenced my music.
I agree with Sheer, but I have to comment that I also had a Japanese friend tell me that one particular song I wrote sounded sort of Japanese. He was a fan of Japanese rock bands as well as concurrent American and British bands, though not really much classic rock in him. If he's only listened to modern bands, and no modern bands in America or Britain sounds like the Japanese rock he's grown up listening to, he would of course assume that a particular sound of current Japanese rock is inherently Japanese, because he doesn't hear it in the here and now and doesn't know how it was before.
3. If you claim to know about Japanese culture more-so than Japanese citizens. And you think they are wrong about their own culture, than you are just an arrogant moronic fool.
Actually, it takes somebody who doesn't take every bit of American culture for granted to understand American culture the best. You can never judge yourself objectively. If you think you can, you are just an arrogant moronic fool.
Really I don't care what you guys think so I won't be discussing this mater anymore.
Good, this is a board about the pillows, not about breeding.

I am a moron. Instead of addressing your points, I am going to reiterate my unfounded assertions without providing any further evidence. At least my girlfriend agrees with me. And my friends.

1. My school teachers know everything about everything, and you don't. Why? Because I said so. Even though they didn't help me formulate my argument, I'm sure they'd agree with my stupid ass.

2. I am so insecure about the fact that I do not have a life that I have to specifically make it a point to inform you that I do, in fact, have a life (I swear!). After pointing this out, I am going to assure you that I am right. I mean, I can't believe that no one else has realized how right I am yet? I just don't understand, considering my plethora of evidence and sound reasoning.

3. You have to know Japanese culture to understand that there is a pattern among music in Japan. It's not irrelevant, like some logical people might think. Unless you've lived in Japan your whole life, you can in no way connect the sound of one Japanese band to another, and differentiate this sound from the bands of other nations. Fool.

Since I know I'm a moron, and correct in no possible way, shape, or form, I give up and concede to your superiority.
Let's get back to the album.
Cocks? I love them.
No really, let's get back to the album.

I am sorry I'm a dumbass.

Brye, it's not about misquoting, it was a joke about him being as completely wrong/stupid as you are sometimes.

That was probably the hardest win I've ever witnessed on IM.

WOW. :o That actually makes me feel a little sorry for you.

About what I said several pages back about the lead in the chorus for Dance with God, I take back. I now really like that part of the song, it creates a nice contrast between chaos with the lead and the standard chorus sound of the rest of the instruments.

To the people that have been bitching about the last ~5 albums released:

At this point it's pretty much a tie between the pillows and Mass of the Fermenting Dregs [don't hate me Mare].
